New 2012 Stoneridge 36UL, if I leave the grey water valve open, I get a horrible smell under the bathroom and kitchen sink cabinets. It permeates throughout the entire camper and you can hardly stay in the camper. If I close the grey water drain valve the odor goes away.
Took rig back to dealer, they checked it out and said they can't smell anything however, the valve was closed at the time. Don't understand how any sewer smell could be coming up through the drain as the only time the black tank valve is open is when I dump, and the grey water traps under the sinks should prevent any smell from coming through.
Anyone have any experience with this type issue?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look for a vacuum breaker under the sink(s). It may not be sealing properly. Some models use these rather than putting several vents thru the roof.

lynnmor is spot on. On my Escalade I have had the same problem twice. Replaced the vacuum breaker ($2 available anywhere) under the lav sink once and once under the kitchen sink. An easy fix...it just screws out...hand tight.

Lynnmor & Netjam, thank you for the replies. The smell was coming from both of the vacuum breakers. I checked the local camper supply and they wanted $23.00 each. I went to a small hardware store just down the street and got them for $3.99 each for the exact same ones. Hopefully, this will cure my problem.
Thanks again for the help

We started to get the smell from the kitchen this past season & it's on it's own tank. Sorry but could you please explain what this "vacuum breaker" what does it look like. I hope that's were the smell is coming from.

It looks like a plug on the 1.5 or 2 " drain under the sink. It would be after the trap (U shaped piping) and high up on the drain piping. It unscrews, is black plastic like the piping. Any hardware store would have them. If you are not comfortable with this, go to a hardware store and ask them to show you what one looks like first so you know what you are looking for.

I also hear that this could also be part of black tank auto cleaning system. Our hook up for the black tank wash is on the side near rear of trailer by the kitchen & I think I was something about it being to do with the smell maybe coming from that system with the smell coming back from the water line feeding the auto tank wash. First year was fine & stated to get the smell in the cupboards under the sink area mid season this past summer.
