On our previous 5er the entry door had a catch to hold it open. On our Gold there isn't a catch. I did notice that when you open the entry door it is very tight. Has anyone installed a catch to hold the door open. There are times when we like to have just the screen door closed and are worried the wind might catch the entry door. Comments?
Looking at the KZ website they show a catch on the regular Durango but not on the Golds.

mtcowgirl You are correct, the Gold series has no catches on their doors, the door is meant to be very tight to open so it will stay open in the wind. We have never had a problem with our door not staying open in light to moderate wind as it most always against the trailer when open Not trying to be smart but you couldn't put a latch on your trailer to hold the door open, it is your trailer an you can add or take away things you like or dislike. We have never so far thought about such since we have not had a problem with such in the year of trailing Safe Travels an don't forget about the Kz National Rally this summer Chuck

I would wait to see if you encounter enough wind to close your door. I view every hole in the exterior as an entry point for water, and you will need at least one hole in the exterior skin for the manual door catch.

The Durango Gold line entry door has a friction hinge that will hold the door open at any angle in most wind situations. it will take a pretty stiff wind (above 20mph) to move the door.
Good rule of thumb if it is too windy to have the awning down, it will be too windy to have the entry door open.

What others have said .... the friction hinge is a nice improvement over the the "latch on the door". It will not blow open and slam against your rig ... unless the wind is very strong.

Thanks everyone. We are going to leave the door as is and try it. We haven't been able to get out since Thanksgiving since mother nature dumped snow on us.
