First off I will admit this is kinda strange (and perhaps because of the intense sun here at a 5,000 elevation) but the bottom of my entry door window frame melted and let the glass slide down about 3/8". We had installed one of those shiny sun screens because the DW didn't want the heat coming in thru that window. I figure this is why the frame melted, never had this happen before, as we have had these screens on previous coaches... End result, my local parts supplier got me a replacement window assembly with a built in shade and tinted window, so no more shiny thing.

It is 7 degrees here, are you trying to rub it in? Good information, sounds like the shiny thing creates a mini solar furnace.

I wondered if the shiny thing reflected the rays back and caused a double dose of rays on the frame.

WOW I would have never thought, we did that in our last 5th wheel an never had a problem, as johnr stated maybe the sun rays doubled back on it ... Chuck

Chuck It was a total surprise to me, as I have used the same shade things before without any problem, but i didn't live at a 5,000 elevation before..I think ended up with a solar oven...

I like the built in shade, works well. Wife likes it open during the day for the light, closed for privacy at night. Get it closed before the evening bugs get out. Kind of a pain to open and close from inside around the scree door.

If I come up with anything worthwhile, I will certainly share.
