anyone else have this issue and if so what was the remedy to correct? 2018 KZ Sportster 331TH12 5th wheel... The Satellite line between the sat cable input on the side of the trailer and the release point of where the TV and Sat box plug into has a recorded short using the line trace tool I purchased. Although the trailer is now in winter storage, we've had to from day 2 of ownership (when first noted) run my cable through the side slide out window and across the floor to the TV sat box. KZ is not happy with the answer the dealership returned for trouble shooting the problem since they do not know what they are getting into when they have to rip the trailer apart to replace the cable. So If you've had a similar issue with the Satellite cable which runs through your trailer being U/S could you please share what the dealership had to do to correct and approximate how many hours did it take? Thanks in advance.

Hummmmmmm It makes me wonder what the dealer told them, they had no problem dealing with our trailer when the TV didn't work checking out cables, amplifier/booster an replacing such.. If you read rvdude had a satellite connection that was screwed up an they fixed without blinking an eye, Kz replaced a stove, a counter as well, so maybe they are questioning the method in which the dealer wanted to fix your unit I believe if they (the dealer) wanted to take your trailer apart, possibly Kz would wanted to have the trailer shipped back to Indiana One other thing you might think about, while checking the coax cable make sure there is either nothing connected to something on the other end or unless it's a dummy load. Thus if you have the amp/booster or out side antenna still connected you will show a short. If you have a dummy load connected it will show you the ohm-age of what the dummy load is, ie a 50 ohm dummy load would see 50 ohms, 72 ohm if such. I believe the coax going thought these units is 72 ohm an not 50ohm, do to the fact 50 ohm is more high priced an most TV coax is 72 ohm .... As with another tread, I believe I would call Kz Customer service in relationship to this an ask the questions regarding this problems an see what they say .... Seems like more an more dealers put the blame game on the MFG when it is the dealer who is the one dragging their feet or stating it the other guy who is holding us up Again this may be another good reason to attend the Kz Rally even thought I believe you stated it would be near impossible Safe Travels Chuck

The tech at the rally was all under my trailer and found some crossed wiring. He made changes and now everything works as it should, from outside satellite connection to inside satellite connection with no problems. If the dealer doesn't want to do a wiring check and revision, what kind of excuses will they give when you really have a problem?

More than likely, the short is due to an incorrectly installed end or the cable you are checking has a splitter added, so it isn't ending where you think it is. I say this because it will take a "direct hit" with a staple to short the shielding to the conductor. What to do? I would call KZ directly and see what the dealer told them, as previously mentioned dealers sometimes blame the Mfg. If the cable itself is damaged, it's time for the tech to get creative, the replacement cable does not have to follow the exact same path as the original, just end at the same places. You would be surprised how many places there are to run coax covertly.

Running a new line where a line has already been run is not really difficult. You take apart one end of the wire, pull it out to where you can work with it and really tape the new wire to the existing wire. Go to the other side and pull everything through until the new wire comes out. Then you put new ends on and put it back together.
There are things that can go wrong, such as if the original installers stapled the line down for some reason, or if your tape job falls apart in the wall. That's how we do things in the computer industry, whether it's cat5 or coax or fiber. Perhaps KZ can tell you if they staple anything during the installation?

I don't have my manual on hand but I recall a jumper behind the TV that needed moved for satellite. You might want to look in your manual. Like OP said check cable ends, my main TV didn't work right from day one. I found two bad cable ends, one in the bedroom ceiling & one right at the TV. Found a post in Durangos by Chuck "You have not the only one that has had trouble understanding the antenna setup. at the Kz rally last year they explained the setup to me when changing my outside antenna ... The tech stated that when hooking up a satellite dish you needed to change the jumper between the two small panels. In other words I believe you have to change the jumper from "A" to "B" on the one panel an like when using cable not turn of the antenna amplifier/booster. Then you can hook you satellite dish to the outside panel, I agree the manual is not the best an I was confused at first as well to explained, I later found out that my antenna was bad, Kz tech stated that he had never seen an antenna go bad in all the many years he had worked on RV's Read more: kzfamilyforum.com/thread/1863/tv-antenna#ixzz51lHKxnpu

Over on the Montana owners site there is about the same discussion regarding this subeject, you might look over there as well, which may give you some more idea's www.montanaowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72307As you can see Kz owners are not the only people having these types of problems Safe Travels Chuck
