Kidde recallIt's for fire extinguishers with a plastic handle or plastic push button. The Model # on mine is FF 210D Auto. I looked on the list and didn't see the model number with Auto on it. But when I googled my model number, I found it on the lists of several websites. That's when I noticed they were all Canadian websites. So I looked on the Canada list on the Kidde website I linked above, and sure enough it is there. I'm not sure how to proceed from here. I tried to call but the recording didn't have any option except to leave my name and number. I'm not expecting a call back. Just a heads up to check both the US and Canada lists.

marlee and chuck
Thanks for that info! I checked mine and sure enough it's the same as marlee's. I called the number that chuck posted and got right through. As chuck noted, they took my email, name, address and phone number.
They informed me that what to do with the old one would be in instructions with the new one.
Gotta love it when we can get this info on this forum!

The recall covers extinguishers from 1973 to current. Here is the email our safety department at work sent out: Kidde is recalling more than 40 million fire extinguishers, some on the market for more than four decades, because they may not work in an emergency. The recall covers 134 models of push-button and plastic-handle extinguishers in the U.S. and Canada made from 1973 through Aug. 15 of this year. It includes models that were previously recalled in March of 2009 and February of 2015, the commission said Thursday. The government says the extinguishers can become clogged and fail to spray when needed. Also, the nozzle can come off with enough force to pose an injury hazard. Including the death, the CPSC says there have been 391 reports of extinguishers failing to work properly or of nozzles coming off, resulting in 16 injuries that included smoke inhalation and minor burns. Also, there were about 91 reports of property damage linked to the problem. Owners should contact Kidde to ask for a free replacement and for instructions on how to return recalled models. Kidde can be reached at (855) 271-0773 or at www.kidde.com.

Thanks for the info. Went on line and checked both of my model numbers. The push button type was on the list and a replacement will be sent. The plastic handle model in the garage was not on the list.

My camper one was also included in the recall. All the other extinguishers I have are First Alert.

I would almost bet that 95 percent if not more of fire extinguishers in TT an 5th wheels, motor homes, boats etc will be recalled. That got to be a major hit in the back pocket of that company to the point it may come close to putting them under .....

I always thought (I could be wrong though) that fire extinguishers had a shelf life of around 10 years. I find it strange they would go back to 1973 with the recall and replace ones that are that old.

I'll bet it is a CYA, so they can say, hey we told you so if someone gets hurt or sues from a problem back that far It's a lawyer world anymore, shoot a cup of coffee spilled in your lap can get you a million dollars, think about one of those old extinguishers going off in you face an you inhaling the stuff within it, you would have twenty lawyers knocking on you door before the dust clears LOL I'm surprise that someone hasn't sued over a china bomb type of tire blowing out an damaging their trailer I can hear it now "No one told me that tire was going to blow out when I was doing a 100mph" ! Checked all my extinguishers. The one in the TT was on the list as was one that I had in the house (it was 38 Years old). Entered the serial numbers into the website and discovered they are going to replace both of them.
