We bought our trailer (G384RLT) home Wednesday morning after dropping it off for the lifetime warranty
inspection on Monday.
They (Tacoma RV) stated I had some bad spots on the roof the needed sealed around the front cap an
the bathroom sky light. I ask why if this was a new trailer under warranty did it need to be resealed
after only a year, they (Tacoma RV) said it happens all the time with new trailers an should be good now
for some time to come.
I wonder if this was just another way of getting extra money out of us because they stated this wasn't
under Kz or forever warranty, so people/owners get scared when you say that down the road you may have
a roof leak. Since I can not climb on the roof which I told them (1st mistake) I stated to go ahead an re-seal
where needed without really looking because I was not at the dealer (my fault)
I also told them that the right side propane tank hose needed to be replaced, it was leaking, I should have
checked this at the dealer before leaving, because it was not fix, ie replaced. ( Again my fault)
They (Tacoma RV) gave us the forever inspection sheet which was blank an said we had to fill it out an mark
the boxes on the sheet an sign it, then either mail it, fax it, or copy an email to the forever insurance company.
Thinking back I should have ask why they didn't mark the boxes because they are the one's that did the work
an not me. Now by me marking the boxes an signing it I am responsible for what is stated on the inspection
sheet not them even thought I have a printed out sheet with work done an cost with their letterhead, thus I
believe if something is not fixed or bad, it's on me not them, maybe not Ugh !!!
I also told them that I had a water leak some place because the water pump would go off ever so often,
(every 4 to five minutes with all valves closed an 1/2 tank of fresh water) they stated that the problem was fresh
water tank valve was slightly open, I know it was because I had opened it the week before to drain the fresh
water tank do to cold weather
Their comment was that they close the valve an after they winterized it they left the water pump on for ten
minutes an nothing happened !!!
So I have to wonder since there was no water in the fresh water tank since it is suppose to be drained when
winterized would not the water pump try to pull water from the fresh water tank which was empty. Or having
the antifreeze jug full of antifreeze an pulling from the jug put enough pressure on the system to see if there was
a leak
When I picked up the unit the rear ladder was hanging down an was not put back into place an I found antifreeze
jug caps in the storage area, so they must have used the storage area as a platform for the antifreeze jugs while
winterizing the trailer.
Here the list of work done along with cost
Lifetime inspection was $98.55
Winterized was $99.12
Roof seal was $82.99
Labor was $258.15
parts was $22.51
Tax $27.78
Total #308.44
So on the Annual Maintenance Coupon it states to check the box if the following were done:
Inspect roof an seal roof where necessary
Inspect axles an hub, lube where necessary
Inspect furnace-clean blower, combustion chamber, control compartment (remove any dust, lint, obstructions)
as necessary, test for gas leaks.
Inspect hot water heater, flush holding tank, manually operate pressure temperature relief valve,
clean burner tube (as outlined by the manufacturer) as necessary.
So under the warranty my way of thinking was that if the sky light an the seal on the front an rear cap needed
to be resealed that should have been cover under the forever warranty per the Maintenance Coupon an they
should have found an fixed the propane hose that was not found nor fixed Ugh ....
Anyway it's now done, was faxed an I have called to the forever warranty people to make sure they have it even
thought I have a conformation number on the fax ...
I am not sure if I am going to go back next year to have this inspection done there, my local RV repair shop stated
that they can do such, they charge $125 an hour so I may go to them instead of Tacoma RV...
As you saw the Forever warranty Inspection was $98.55 not $200, but after everything they got us for $300....
I did look on the roof from my 10ft ladder (the DW would of really yelled at me if she new I did such) an the things
they stated did look to be done. But I am still wondering after a number of really hard rain storms an the rain we
have had here in the last month if this was just something to scare us into getting it done, I don't know, I like to be
positive but the small things I saw stated above makes start to think
I will say at the PDI I saw no problems with any of the seal problems they stated, everything looked to be well done
an we went thought a number of really hard rain storms an pretty bad weather thought the summer, so again it
makes me wonder was this preventive maintenance, if so why didn't they say such, guess i am thinking to much
I also wanted the bearings repacked, but they wanted $350 more to do such, Les Schwab only charges $100 bucks a
axle, thus $200 plus tax to have the bearings re-greased, so I will go to them in the near future along with having metal
valve stems put in ($5.00 a stem). Still on the fence about changing out the tires, have had pretty good reports on the
Provider E rated tires we have on the trailer an after 9000 miles they still look good, no ware an plenty of tread ....
Safe travels
