I was hooking up a shut off for my battery. I don't know what its called. But the wires from the battery goes to a small connector before it goes to camper. It is so rusted looks like it is going to fall apart. Was wanting to replace it before i have a problem. But don't know what to buy.

I'm not sure but it looks like an auto reset circuit breaker.

Looks to me like a relay. The question is a relay for what? have you traced the wires?

You might be able to replace that rusted relay with a proper disconnect or perhaps even just a manual circuit breaker that you can trip as a disconnect. They are usually pretty cost effective. Of course, I am in no way and electrician, so I would see what lynmoor or chuck, or someoof these more seasoned veterans might say.
Another good reference is "Love your RV" on youtube. Ray has quite a few videos on batteries that might help you.

My old trailer had one of those for the electric tongue jack. It went bad and I was told to go to the auto parts store and get one. Just get the numbers off of it and get one with the same rating. Maybe that will work for the one you have.

NAPA seems to always have the answer's around here to automotive relay's from trailers, cars, tractors etc Take it into the local parts store, show them the reset circuit breaker an ask them to find a replacement of equal voltage/currant value, the nuts may be copper coated along threads, use a little penetrating oil on them an wait a bit to loosen ... Some times it helps to tighten a mig (very little)before loosening, the new replacement should come with nuts an lock washers so if you break one it's not a big deal most times Also your owners manual might have the item in the back of your manual somewhere regarding problems Good Luck Chuck

Thanks I couldn't find it in my owners manual. I'll definitely be replacing it not sure what it does. Don't want to be out in a trip and it breaks.

That is an automatic reset breaker. It can range anywhere from 10-50 AMPS, amperage should be labeled on the side. Most all auto parts stores carry them. Happy Campin....

Looks like you have some painting to do. Was this trailer operated on salty roads? When you replace the breaker, mount it so the mounting posts point down to prevent water from seeping inside. Yes, they are always mounted with total disregard of weather.

You can coat the bolts and nuts with battery terminal grease after you replace it. It won't completely solve the rust problem, but will slow it down. Recoat every year.
