Well, she's done and put away for another winter. So weird that our last trip was 75 degrees and sunny. I felt like we should just keep camping.
Auto Level the system to take some weight off of the tires. Opened the low point drains and all spigots. Drained the hot water tank and fresh water tank and turned on the hot water bypass. Blew out the water lines with a pancake compressor to get as much water out as possible. Close all spigots and the low point drains. Fill the system with RV Antifreeze working both hot and cold outlets. Don't forget the toilet! Make sure to fill the drains with antifreeze. Shoot some antifreeze into the line for the fresh water fill and also the black tank flusher. Open each low point drain for a few seconds to make sure antifreeze gets in there as well and also open the fresh tank drain.
Total amount of antifreeze used: 2.5 gallons
Make sure propane tanks are off. Shut off all breakers except for the one to the plugs holding the mouse repellent things that I don't know if they truly work. Pull the fuse for the CO2 detector. Disconnect the battery. Set a couple paper towels by the door to periodically look in and see if mice are getting in.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Come south Chuck. Setting in camp now just north of Albuquerque at 75 to day mid 40's nights. Headed to Japanese Lantern Festival tomorrow evening. It was almost 80 here in Denver this afternoon and in the 450's tonight as well. Yet, tomorrow, it's going to drop to the 30's during the day with 22 at night and rain changing to snow. Even though my Sportster is Winterized, I made sure I opened up all the faucets tonight just in case.

Setting nice and toasty, 65 out 71 inside, 10 day weathers mid 60's and sunny coldest night 37. I moved south from Idaho where the warmest day supposed to be 57 w/low 28 we were at 5500ft so snow could be any day if it' not happened already.

I wanted to get the new toy out and try it out before the cold weather set in, but it looks like I will have to wait until next year.
Now I'm in the market for a good cover so I can keep her shiny and new, but it seems the general consensus is that all covers, no matter how good, just won't hold up. If that's true in other parts of the country, then I am in real trouble with Colorado's year-round blazing sun and the East Plains high winds.

Do you have any indoor storage areas in your neck of the woods? Here in northeastern Ohio, northwestern PA area there are old salt mines that you can store RVs in. A lot of people seem to use those.
My father-in-law and one brother-in-law both use covers over the winter. They haven't reported any issues to me.

Unfortunately, we don't. I'm in the High Plains East of Denver. We hardly have trees and most of the storage yards are wide open, so a cover would be needed there too. I can forget about renting climate controlled/covered storage as well, they are very limited and more expensive than my payment on the darn thing.

I see allot of RV covered, I guess it depends on how good a cover you buy, my problem with bad knees an back climbing up on top of the 5th wheel is not a good idea, they may have to bring the local fire engine company over with the ladder truck to get me off LOL Chuck

You don't have to "put away the toys" where I live... you can pretty much go any time you want to.

Well I'm ready, trailer still packed an ready to go, problem being is the little lady an her claws dug into the ground up here We have friends in AZ that said to come on down, they have a spot next to them to park , can't even get her to do that Ugh But there may be light at the end of the tunnel, she made a comment the other day about maybe next year we should head south for the winter, my comments was "we haven't left yet, why not get a head start on next year" Safe Travels Chuck & Hildi

doublewa, I'm from Longmont so I know what you mean. The lot I'm storing in is just east of I25. I did end up buying a cover (that is supposedly guaranteed for life). Will see how it goes this winter. I'm hoping I'll get a little protection from the trailers around me.

It's $80/month there but they do have a dump station there that is included in the price. Not only are we getting this lovely ice mixture, but the wind is howling out east as well. At least I'll get to get home and check the camper for leaks.
