Hello I just purchased a 2500 315 RDK. I thought there was an outlet in the slide by the kitchen table but it is just a cover plate. Has anyone ever had an electrician add an outlet to their slide?

virginia18 We have a G384RLT an our electric outlet is behind the left side of our table on the lower side of the inside slide wall which faces toward the front near the floor an about 8 inches in from the outside slide wall ... I know our 5th wheel is different but, but like you I thought there was no wall plug, then I pulled the chair out to reach for something an low an behold there it was, a wall plug, if it would have been a rattle snake I would have been bitten 10 time over Ugh !! Please believe me I am not making fun of you, but I really missed this plug going over our trailer during the PDI which I thought I did a pretty good job of doing. Darned if I didn't miss that wall plug because I had checked every other plug in the trailer with a electric power checker Ugh Safe Travels Chuck & Hildi

Hello Chuck ~ Hildi
No worries. Heck, I can't even figure out how to light my stove top. Electronic spark ignition keeps clicking & nothing. All I do is smell gas.. UGH Propane kinda scares me.... Microwave works great. LOL
I have the 2500 315RDK. What I thought was an outlet in the same location in my slide (behind the chairs) is just a solid cover. What a surprise. I unscrewed it & there are a bunch of connected wires. I called KZ & they said it was there for repairs which makes no sense. So, I'd have to get an electrician in to take a look. Checked the rest of the slide as I have removed all the furniture that came with the camper & replaced it with my own. So much more room. It's amazing!! We'll see.

So KZ bills that unit as a "Full Profile Luxury" FW and they can't put in a receptacle in the slide? Not good if you can't sit at the table and even plug in a phone charger or laptop. Our 262RKS has 120 volts in the slide due to the fridge in it. Good thing because we recently installed a double recliner with power option that needs 120 volts. Under the slide there is a bendy thingy with flexible 12 & 120 volt wiring attached to it. When the slide is retracted & extended, the thingy flexes to let the wire flex extend out. Look under the slide to see what you have now because there should be something there for 12 volts for lighting. Will be obvious if there's two types of wiring under there. Afraid I've forgotten what the thingy is called. If you aren't a knowledgeable handyman type, it's not going to be an average DIY job to install the needed wiring and probably requires taking down the underbelly material, which would make it an even more time-consuming project. I wouldn't hesitate to do it with my background and have lots of the required tools in the garage. If are so lucky to find 120 volt wiring in the slide or decide to pay to get it done, I'd suggest using one of the new receptacles that have USB charging ports in them. Virginia18,
We have the same model unit, 2016 315RKD. Do you have the double fridge or single with the corner closet? We have the single fridge so under the corner closet I installed a 120V outlet. There is no 120V wiring in the slide. I removed the drawer from under the fridge to gain access to the blank wall panel under the corner closet. I got my power from the receptacle behind the outside fridge, ran it back around under the sink and fridge (against the back wall) to the corner under the closet. I didn't want to get power from the receptacle the main fridge plugs into. Now we can use our lap top or what ever without having to worry about stepping over cords while at the table. Works for us. One other thing, do you have a wall switch in the bathroom to turn on the light? I had to install one, got tired of reaching up in the dark to find the light. Happy Campin....

Unfortunately no 120 in a slide is pretty common. I have 318RLT, and it lacks 120 in the slide. As previously mentioned, running 120 to your slide isn't hard, but has some difficulty involved, the biggest being properly routing the wires so there aren't any fireworks when the slide moves. About your stove, it's more common to not have the built in lighter work than for it to actually work, so just get one of those long lighters and light it manually.

Hello all~
I have a switch in the bathroom. Guess they figured that out for the 2017's. Had to drill a hole to connect my Blue Ray player to the TV & I also drilled a hole in the closet shelf to reinforce the long clothes rod that was sagging.
I run an extension cord w/surge protector from my kitchen table/desk behind my futon (took out those 2 huge rockers)to above the fireplace. Not pretty but it works. It will be fine for now. I have the smaller fridge with the pantry. Will check out what you did.
I did light my stove manually & once all 3 burners were lit for the first time, the push button ignition works just fine.
I do need to have my auto level checked out. Will not level & can't do it manually but it is all covered under warranty.
Another question?? Any suggestions for full time living RV insurance?
Thank you all for you help.

I don't have a Durango, but you will find lots of talk and links regarding operation of the leveling units in these 5th wheels in the Durango folder. Maybe something there can help you until you get the dealer to look at it.
