First of all Welcome to the Kz Family There is a Durango Gold Folder under (Durango) on this site that has tons of information
from Durango Gold owners ...
Backing is not a big problem as i will explain below, what you now have to watch out for
is turning a right an left hand corner's, your 5th wheel will track differently than a TT.
So when turning a right hand corner you should swing a little wider than what you did with
your old TT. Left hand turns you just have to remember not to swing to quickly because
of the tail swing
You will find that a 5th wheel is easier to back into spaces than a TT. What I recommend is
get some orange cones, go to a large parking lot that dozen't have allot of traffic, set up
the comes up like a RV camp site space an practice backing into the space.
The reason I say your 5th wheel is easier to back into spots is that the pivot point is
over the truck rear axle an not the bumper an will pivot much easier. When pulling up to
a RV spot in a camp ground if you can sort of stay to the right of the road an just before
you get to the camp site go to your left an then as your the wheels of your trailer get to
the camp site cut out to the right on a 45 degree if you can, thus setting yourself up
to make the swing into the camp site. This swing would almost be the same as when you
had your TT but you will your swing will be allot shorter, thus when backing in your trailer
will turn allot quicker than when you had your TT.
Always watch out that you do not cut to hard for two reasons, one you can hit your cab, two
the tail swing is far quicker that you think. Which brings up another point as stated before
an I can't say it enough , when turning a corner or in a parking lot your tail swing is different
from your old TT so always be mindful of where the rear of your trailer is when turning corners
or backing into a camp site
As well you will have fun with your new leveling system, it will take a bit og getting
use to an you can read a ton about this in the "Durango" folder on this site as well
as here ...
As far as camera's I do not have one but there has been some talk about such in I believe
the " General " folder. I have the DW stand off drivers side behind the trailer when I
back into a RV site to make sure I do not hit anything just in case even thought I have 40
some years of backing semi trailers.
Again Welcome an there are a tom of Kz owner's here with lots of great information of all
kinds ....
Lastly keep in mind there will be a National Kz Rally coming up next summer in Indiana
in either late July early August. This rally has tours of the Kz factory, MorRyde factory,
Kz an LCI Techs at the RV camp grounds all week to do any warranty work needed an plenty
of food an friendship between owners.
Safe travels an enjoy your new 5th wheel
