Hello All,
First time poster here. I've been reading quite a bit here and this forum is a wealth of information. I'm hoping you guys can give me a little advice:
I'm in Arizona and I am negotiating with a dealer on a 2018 Sportster 311TH10. It's just about fully loaded (minus the patio deck and the 2nd A/C). I've seen MSRP's up to $52,000 as this one is built. My question is, has anyone negotiated one of these before and if so, is the typical "35-40% off of MSRP" apply? I'm hoping to get down to the mid 30's if possible.
I'm a total RV newbie, so please forgive me here, but any advice would be a huge help.

Thanks Jetzen, I really appreciate the response. I did see that one. I've been looking at the 311TH10/305TH for about 2 years now and I just missed out on a nice used one just recently. I did see the one you posted here and another in KY for 34k. I inquired and it seemed that they couldn't budge much and to ship it was another 2K, so it put it at 36-37k.
The dealer and I are just a couple thousand apart right now, but I'm hopeful I can snag it. It's my first RV purchase ever and I am quickly learning that the same tactics used in car buying do not apply in the RV world.
The one I am negotiating on has the 15k ducted A/C as opposed to the 13.5, but I live in elevation with a relatively dry climate, so I'm not sure how much I would actually use it as most of my camping will be done above 5,000ft. Ever camped in the Rockies or someplace similar?

Sounds like you need a road trip to Tennessee. That's the whole fun of it. If your dealer won't budge on the price, there is always another dealer. On the A/C units if you only need one only use one but when you need 2 and don't have 2 you will wish you had ordered it that way.
Yes I have camped at high elevations Yellowstone in early June never got out of the 50's then a week later Cheyenne and Ft. Laramie never go under 95 degrees only had 1- 15,000btu A/C unit on that 5ver, wished we would have had 2, it struggled to keep the trailer inside 80-82 degrees. The A/C constantly ran. Listen to the voice of experience. Trailers are not thermally efficient.

The dealer here has come down to match the 37k. So now it's a wash. At this point, it's just trying to get as low as I can without them kicking me out lol. I'm extremely strapped for funds, so I certainly can't afford the 2nd A/C right now. This one does has the 50 AMP and the wiring for the 2nd A/C, so I may have to add it later. Since I am starting out, I know I have to buy EVERYTHING (leveling blocks, sewer/water hoses, cover, interior stuff, etc). I think it's one of those things I'll have to have the dealer do with my tax return next year or something.
I've been listening to everything you folks have been saying. My Pop told me never to think I'm smarter than people who have already been down the road I'm traveling on.

Welcome to the forums and good luck with the purchase. A lot of dealers will give you a starter kit with a water hose, sewer hose, a roll or 2 of toilet paper, and a few other things with purchase of a trailer.

These guys are acting like such tightwads I doubt they'd add anything. Now, you guys have me thinking about adding the 2nd A/C.

As for the 2nd ac, I wouldn't be without it. Even if I wasn't from Texas, I would still have the 2nd ac. I'm hot natured and I like it cool. Not to mention, that if one of them should happen to stop working while you are on a trip, you have another ac to use in the meanwhile until you can get the trailer to the shop, or save up money for repairs. Or, if you happen to travel to a hotter location than where you normally go, you would still be comfortable. For me, it is an easy decision.

I agree, 2nd AC is a must even in the Rockies's were we camp allot even thought we have 5th wheel as jetzen stated it can get hot As far as dealers, there is one point with warranty Kz trailers, if you are 150 miles away from selling dealer you can call Kz Customer service an the will steer you to a Kz dealer who will honor your warranty ... An I know i will more than likely catch flack over this but we have the forever warranty an talking with in them for over a hour regarding such a few weeks ago they stated that I could take my 5th wheel to any RV service dealer to have it repaired an they would honor such an pay the bill. Now I know there are Kz owners on here that will be all over my statement an sat save your money but I know of at least one person on this site who has working done other than his selling dealer an they have covered everything. So saying the above if you buy the trailer you want at the price you want an you are 150 miles away from the dealer you can still get warranty work done on a new trailer ... Will you have to travel some miles, maybe to get such done, maybe but it could be just down the street also ... Also remember on a new trailer with a 2 year warranty Kz is nor responsible for for the 1st year on appliances. My selling dealer is 55 miles away, they stated that it would be two months before they could get me in, I called Kz an they gave me the number of the MFG of the Appliance that I needed repaired. The MFG steered me to another RV dealer 8 to 10 miles away an I was given a appointment in a week an the repair was done the following week ... So again buying new has it's perks if you can afford such, but also buying used you can still get some warranties as well if you shop around ... As a number of us saw at the Kz rally last summer Kz will stand behind their product 150 percent an will even help owners out of warranty to a point as we along with jetzen, rvdude an a number of others saw personally Safe Travels an good luck with buying I believe a great product Chuck

Well, I did it. I'm the proud owner of a 2018 Sportster 311TH10. I was strapped for cash and couldn't work in the 2nd A/C, but I did get a BW Companion in the deal, so it wasn't all bad.

Nice looking trailer, congratulations! The second ac is a good thing to have, but not a total necessity. I hope you at least have 50 amp and can add the second ac down the road. I know you will enjoy the trailer.

I know you will enjoy the trailer. It sure does. It has the 50 amp service with the wiring for the 2nd A/C, so it will be more cost effective to add later.

doublewa Again welcome to the Kz Family, really nice looking trailer, I hope you will enjoy it as much as we enjoy our Kz product Safe travels hope to meet you somewhere down the road or at the Kz Rally Chuck & Hildi Pound for pound, it seems that KZ has some of the best products out there. I searched for 2 years before purchasing this one and I can tell you they are hard to come by. The new ones go very quickly and you hardly ever see any used ones for sale. The wife actually picked the Sportster over the Keystone in the same class. I think we are going to love it.
