So far, things are good in my area. I'm about 150 miles east of where Harvey hit land and about 40 miles from the gulf. We have had close to 8 inches of rain in my area, very little winds, and no power outages. The possible problems will be the next 4 days of heavy rains. The Houston area is expected to have a total of 20-30 inches of rain now through the middle of next week.

I went to bed with a little rain going on... and woke up with most of Houston and the surrounding areas massively flooded. It is bad, most freeways in Houston are flooded, some almost up to the signs above the freeway. There are hundreds of high water rescues going on. There are some places that water is in the second level of houses. As for where I live, there is plenty of water but we are not flooded at this time.
I am still high and dry at this time and so far I have not lost power.

Still hanging in there at my place. Water on property is up some, but still not 100% covered. As for the rest of Houston and the surrounding areas, most freeways and streets are flooded. There are many neighborhoods that have had numerous high water rescues due to the unexpected fast rising of streams and rivers. We're expected to have rains continuing until Wednesday. I'll keep everybody posted.

The storm has noved into Louisiana, and I am actually seeing a bright light in the sky today and mostly blue skies. I made it with only a 3 or 4 inch coverage of water across the property and no water in the trailers or vehicles. The water has receded on some freeways and roads but not all. I was able to make it to work today. Even the 2 major airports in Houston have been closed during this time.

Darrell ... glad to hear you dodged that bullet. Much of Houston is destroyed. It will take years to recover. My oldest son was involved with Katrina (4 ft of water in his house) and it affected everything. Street signs were down, cell towers were down, no power, so no fuel at gas stations. Very bad for a long time. The worst part was the vultures who try to take advantage of the tragedy.

Yes, those kind of people are everywhere. They have already caught over 40 looters around here.
