Hello all, I'm new to the rv world. I purchased a 2016 19bhs last Oct. So far no issues , the only thing that concerns me is the roof. I'm putting in a fantastic vent , when I got on the ladder and looked at the roof , I saw the roof had dips and wasn't flat . Also when I took off the trim from the vent I saw that there was no plywood underlayment, just roof trusses and the aluminum roof ! I'm 6ft and weigh 240lbs , I was nervous to get on the roof , was afraid I would fall through. What I did was get some 1/4 plywood 4x4 sheets and put them down to spread out my weight over the trusses , seemed to work. Anyone have any problems with their aluminum roofs ?

Only a few small models use the aluminum roofing. Nothing wrong with it and some distortion can be expected. I would use 5/8" plywood, that 1/4" will bow down easily. Make up two pieces with handles (rope will work), and walk them across as needed. You still should not step beyond where the rafters are supporting the aluminum and in turn, your plywood. To be sure, just make them plenty long and not step on the last 16" if you can't see the rafter pattern. Round the sharp edges on the plywood for better protection. These roofs were not designed to walk on and anything that you can do from a tall stepladder should be done that way.
