Hi everyone I am hoping someone can help with a question on our new Sporttrek 327VIK. Apparently the drain from the sink in the outside kitchen is supposed to just drop water straight out to yhe ground where you stand and not go to the grey water tank - does anyone have any info on this? Seems strange that you have to stand in dorty water or soak the ground around the outside kitchen.
Thanks for any help or advice on how to correct this.
John

Welcome to the forum
As to your problem I would not think your outside kitchen should drain to the ground but am unfamiliar with Venture RV products, sounds like your sink drain is not connected. A call to the selling dealer would be in order.

That was my thinking too, that it should not be this way and that campgrounds would not be happy about it. I did ask the dealer and they say they checked with KZ who replied the following - "We have contacted KZ about the drain on the outdoor kitchen. They are telling us that drain is meant to go to ground, not to the waste tank. The threads on the white end connection are meant for a small hose to allow the water to drain under the trailer. Also, the sink does not come equipped with a P-trap, the it would not be legal to connect the drain to the waste tank"
We have friends who have a KZ Connect with outside kitchen and sink, and there sink is connected to grey tank so I am puzzled. The only thing I can think of is because the sink is in a pullout drawer as against to being rigid?
I have emailed Venture and KZ directly but have not heard anything back from them about it yet.

I think to be safe I would get a pan or 5 gallon bucket from Lowes or Home Depot an put under the sink so the water drains into the bucket thus no water on the ground, I can see there point but it sure sounds as if who ever answered along with your selling dealer they have never been camping Ugh ... Maybe you should show the dealer what your talking about right in front of their front door, thus showing them how things work LOL ... any bets on how fast they would find a way to fix it LOL Chuck and Hildi out and about PS; Thinking about such, all the rear kitchens I have seen are not in slides but fixed into the rear of the trailer be it a TT or 5th wheel Hummmmm PS AGN LOL ...Again thinking about this, this would have been a good question at the Kz Rally in a week, but I'll bet a dime to a dollar an engineer thought that "HEY THEY CAN PUT A BUCKET UNDER THE SINK TO CATCH THE WATER WITHOUT A PROBLEM" an that's why they are engineers, they think to much LOL

If you need to drain into a bucket, be aware that in government run campgrounds, the container needs to be covered. I think that you can still buy a collapsible plastic bag like thing. I had one in my popup days and it was labeled "covered bucket."

jfinn This may be a DYI progect after your warranty is over with, putting in a rubber hose from the sink into the top side of your gray water tank if possible... If possible putting a nipple into the gray water tank and sealing it with some type of really good glue or approxy ... Or if you have the money take it to a good RV Repair shop and say fix it Chuck and Hildi out and about

Sounds like maybe the flexible drain hose came loose from the underside of the sink. Do you have access to look around in there?

Hi. I own a 2016 Sporttrek 320 VIK. It has an outdoor kitchen but, the sink is stationary in the counter top. Only the cook top is in a drawer. The sink is hard plumbed into the black (I think) tank due to it's location. Probably no help but, thought I'd mention it just to confirm that it doesn't drain onto the ground. Good luck!

John John We talked to the Kz people at the Kz rally about this subject, they said that they has lowered the sink so children could us such an because of this the angle had changed on the hose to the gray water tank an thus would not drain properly... Thus as someone said they recommended to put a bucket under the sink with hose from the sink to the bucket ... They also said if you looked at the older models of not only Kz but other brand you had to take the sink out altogether to empty such, however they are working on some fixes in the newer models for the future ... Hi John,
I have a 2017 SportTrek 271VRB with the sink in the outside kitchen pull out. Mine has a drain line attached and it works fine.
