I was just wondering if anyone has replaced their fresh water tank drain valve to the outside of the trailer verses underneath the dinette bench?

A drain valve inside won't freeze when the trailer is heated. You might want to add a valve outside and leave the inside valve open. When freezing weather is expected, reverse the procedure leaving the outside valve open.

Also putting the drain valve to the outside in less coming from the bottom of the tank will not drain the tank all the way. Also as well if put to the drain to the out side from the bottom of the tank make sure you put a angle on the drain pipe so it will not hold any water that freezes in the drain line or tank

I was just wondering if anyone has replaced their fresh water tank drain valve to the outside of the trailer verses underneath the dinette bench? The clear plastic tube is where the valve is with a hose clamp on both ends, one on the tank and the other on the valve. From inside of your trailer, under a cabinet, where the PEX goes to your water pump, there is a huge square hole in the floor. Reach for the hose clamps from there. Hold (take someone’s help) the drain hose from the inside of the trailer steady while the other person pushes the new petcock into place. On the other hand my friend left the original valve in place, and ran tubing to the side of the trailer and fastened a new, additional valve to the step framing, using an existing hole. When I hit cold weather, I crawl under and close the original valve, then open the new one and drain the line, so it doesn't freeze. I tried approaching a plumbing repair service in toronto. It is possible because I leave the original valve in place.

KZ must place the fresh water drain at different locations on different products. My 2016 Sportsmen Showstopper TT has the fresh water drain attached to the bottom of the tank and the drain valve is outside, underneath the trailer. We don't camp in below freezing temps and I drain the tank fully when I winterize the TT.

My trailer has the valve on the inside mounted to the floor under the rear bunk by the tank and water heater. Kind of a pain to get to and I wish it would drain faster. It takes a long time for the tank to drain. It is more like a "leak" than a drain.

Sounds as if you have a vacuum if you tank is not draining very fast, try opening fossets an see if that helps to speed up the flow ... Safe Travels Chuck

Never thought about that. I will give that shot after I de-winterize it in a few weeks. Thanks.
