I feel like I get way too much sway on my trailer, and not just when a big rig goes by. I am using the weight distribution system by Blue Ox, which I was told is great. But truthfully, I'm not sure I notice much improvement. I put airbags on the truck, and am keeping the pressure at 65 lbs, and that helped the bouncing. My F150 is rated at to 11,900 and the trailer is 6,100 and has a max weight of 8,000. So even with gear and supplies, I am way below towing capacity. Just curious if anyone uses a different WDS or has a better idea for setting up my vehicle. I also keep the tires at max pressure when cold and the lugs are tight. I'm out of ideas. Maybe it's normal and I just don't know it.

If you really have sway and not just the effects of air and wind, the most common cause is too little hitch weight. You should get the entire trailer weighed and the weight at the coupler. There should be 10 to 15 percent of the total at the coupler. 10 percent may not be enough for some setups, higher is always better. Now the problem is that you are probably at maximum load on that half ton. While tow ratings may be high, often you can get nowhere near that figure before overloading the truck.

Is the Blue Ox weight and sway control, or just weight distribution?
I don't have the Blue Ox, but with my 30TH was doing the same thing. After tilting the trailer ball back a little more (puts more tension on sway bars), it improved considerably!!
