Just purchased a 2018 384 RLT and wanted "All " three slides to have toppers installed on them. Well I got two out of three as there's not enough clearance on the main entrance slide with the power awning already installed there. After taking the unit out for it's shake-down I found a small puddle of water sitting on top of the slide when we departed. My question, has anyone thought or came up with a fix or suggestion how to affix a topper to this slide? I was thinking about measuring the distance from the side of the unit to the edge of the slide then using a series of strong clips to attach the material of choice to the top of the slides top edge and then figuring out how to secure it to the side of the unit. Maybe some sort of channel material which would accept the topper material being slid into it thus securing it to the unit. ? Open for suggestions. Will be asking the service manager, end of June, if he's ever done or heard of this being attempted. Will keep you all advise, thank you John Koerber Graham, WA

koerb,
as of right now there is no way to mount the anchors for the roller tube. The dining room windows are too tall which forces KZ to mount the awning higher than normal. I'm sure anything is possible, someone just hasn't been brave enough.
I had my Montana for 13 years without slide toppers and yes there were times when there was water on the top of the slide when I retracted them but it never seemed to be a problem. It would have been nice to have a slide topper on the curb side slide but I think I can live without one.

Like jetzen stated right now none of us with 384RLT's have found a way, I even ask my super duper RV guy, he looked at it and said "what rocket scientist designed this, nope no room to put anything as far as a slide topper on your trailer" I plan to ask the question at the Kz RV Rally as I am sure a few other others are, maybe the 2019's will have smaller windows so that can be fixed As far as a temporary fix, with bad knees i'm not climbing up on the top to sqweege the top off LOL Safe Travels & Don't forget about the Kz Rally this Summer Chuck

we camp at the beach a lot,, I wish we did not have the toppers,, the wind sometimes catches them and makes a racket, and they look like they could rip.. its the beach and what we can expect.. our last 5er did not have them, I would just take a battery operated blower up and blow off anything (leaves) that was on them before retracting. Has anyone come up with a way to hold them more still with a good wind is blowing?

welovedisney Sorry to answer so late on this but I couldn't remember "noddles" for some reason Ugh Some place I read were they were putting noddles between the top of the slide and the toppers an in another post they were using blow up kids water donuts... I believe the post were on the Good Sam Roads form but it may have been on the Forest River form not sure any more...It might be a good question on on the Good Sam or RV.net Forms Safe Travels Chuck & Hildi

Shove a soccer ball or basketball between the topper and the top of the slide.

So after all summer last year an in some pretty hard rains I didn't find any water that I detected inside the trailer when closing my slides... Watching such from the outside the seals seem to catch the water an push it off the slide when closing ... I will say that I did not go into the trailer an look at the top of the slide once closed, we were in to really heavy rain storms, one in Kansas City, KS the other in Shipshewana, IN an after such again closing the sides after a day no water seen inside ... This is to say again I didn't look inside after closing the slides but you would think after traveling after such I would have seen water on the floor of the trailer an I did not, just luck I guess As far as slide topper I believe it's how the dealer or factory installed such that you get the flapping around of the slide topper ... On our 384 the slide top over the kitchen/entertainment slide drops a little after a day or so being open, but our bedroom seems to stay pretty tight, our dealer installed ours an not the factory ... In our old 5th wheel the slide toppers both dropped a little but never had a problem with them flapping very much like some people have posted, again maybe we were lucky koerb/John we live in the Northwest an western part of Washington State about 40 mile away from him, we have lots of Pine a Fir tree that drop their little needles all year long Ugh, so slide toppers are almost a must here because every camp ground just about had both types of trees Safe Travels Chuck
