Hey folks,
So, getting delivery of our new 363FL next week, and already planning out what mods I'd like to carry over from our currentl trailer (2008 Surveyor 282).
One of my favourite items was that I was able to install a Ecobee Smart Wifi in the trailer, allowing me to remotely access the trailer thermostat and adjust accordingly. Comes in handy after you've left the park and wondered if you left the heat/cool on. And also nice in the hot summer, or cold fall to be able to turn the AC/Heat on 60 minutes out and walk into a nice cool/warm trailer. Agree, a bit of a luxury item, but one that I enjoy (and plus took pride in figuring out the wiring needs).
One of the tricks with installing a Wifi thermostat is that they generally run on 24v, while the trailers run on a 12v system. So, to make a long story short (I can share pics and more details if anyone interested), I used a set of 24V to 12V relay switches and a 24v transformer to allow the thermostat to operate in 24v mode, but sends 12v signals back to the AC/furnace.
To do the project, I was able to intercept the wiring going between the thermostat location and the AC unit as it was conveniently located behind the microwave when I pulled it out. Allowed me a spot to plug in the transformer and place my box that contained the three relay switches.
My question is, does anyone know where the wiring for the themostat in the 363FL routes to? I believe the coleman themostat sits on the wall by the patio door, but not sure how it's rooted. I'll likely find out next week when delivered, but trying to plot out my plan in advance.
Thanks!
