I have redone one of my trailer's windows with butyl tape and now I want to run a bead of Proflex RV sealant along the top and two sides to ensure I have no leaks. The directions say it dries tack free in three hours but takes six days to fully cure. It is supposed to rain the day after I plan to add the Proflex. Will that be OK, or should I wait for a longer dry streak? It might be some time before I can get three or four days with no rain forecast.

13z714x4 I believe you will be ok, the outside of the Proflex will cure somewhat, it's the inside that take a bit to cure all the way I believe Chuck Safe Travels & Don't forget about the Kz Rally this Summer

I just finished caulking it a half hour ago. That stuff sets up fast so I am confident I will be OK. It is supposed to rain after midnite tonight and I can put the canopy out a few feet. The window is under the canopy, but close to one edge. But, I am sure the outside will be waterproof within hours anyway. If you use this stuff, take the advice of using painters tape to guard surrounding surfaces, if not, you will sorry. The stuff is sticky and once it is on, it is hard to remove and it starts setting up within minutes. Also, run a smaller bead than what you think you need, the excess will push out the sides creating a mess on the surrounding surfaces. Tape will greatly help, but still... Oh, and follow the advice to use some soapy water or mineral spirits to smooth the bead....good advice and mineral spirits will help with cleaning up.
Thanks to everyone who offered advice and tips. It helped greatly. I think I have my problem solved now.

13z714x4 Good advice on applying the caulking, I have never used it only the butyl tape in small places, with a new 5th wheel I'm hoping I do not have to such for a long while but you never know LOL I have to tell you that's what this form is all about, showing, discussing, helping others with problems and problem solving with our trailers This would be a good discussion sitting around the camp fire at the Rally Safe Travels & Don't forget about the Kz Rally this Summer Chuck
