After researching for a year, internet shopping for 6 months, and visiting dealerships as well as private sellers for the past month...I'm glad it's OVER! I bet I walked in and out of over 75 rigs before purchasing. So now, we're moving out of the house (under contract) and moving into our new coach as first time full timers.
From doing all of the research, I knew that KZ was a well made coach, but being the way that I am, I had to check out all of the competition first. I had it narrowed down to a Cameo and the Durango Gold. I was leaning towards the Durango, but before I made an offer, I wanted my lady to check them both out side-by-side. She walked in the Cameo and said "This is it!". I told her to hang on because there is another one that I wanted her to see. After checking out the Durango, she just gave me a look and a nod. That was all I needed to make an offer!
We ended up with a 2017 Durango Gold 380FLF. They don't seem to be as popular in the KZ lineup, but I love the open floor plan up front. The only thing that I don't like about it is that when the slides are in, you have to use the front door to get to the fridge/kitchen....and the back door to get to the bathroom. But with any RV...there are pros and cons, as the "perfect" RV (in my opinion) does not exist.
I'm sure that I will have lots of questions once we take delivery and actually move into the unit. Until then, we are excited about downsizing....but stressing on how to get rid of a 4 bedroom house full of decades of "stuff"!
When I was in my early 20's, I lived in a tent for a couple of summers. In my late 20's, I graduated to a VW bus. Now that I'm older...I will now be "that guy" that I swore that I would never become when I was in my 20's. But hey, there is something to be said about living in comfort with the freedom to travel wherever your heart desires.
