Hi , I recently took ownership of a new 2017 Durango 2500 318RLT. I have noticed that when I activate the slide outs, they really seem to tip a lot, in particular, when I retract them to travel. I looked underneath and watched the mechanisms at work, and they were loose. Upon further investigation, I found that 2 of the lag screws that hold the mechanism to the slide unit had fallen out, and several of the others were loose. We have not even been out to a camp ground yet! Along with the loose bolts, I observed that the bare wood for the floor along the side of the slide was completely exposed to any road weather, grime, whatever a tire would throw up on it. Wow, this means a bad floor in a couple years. NOT GOOD. I guess my question is... Is the slide "Tip" normal? Does anyone else experience this? It all seems like shoddy workmanship, and in investigating the camper itself, it is only obvious that "I don't care, ship it" was the mentality of the factory in the construction of this unit. Anyone else?
I spoke with a dealer and they wanted me to return the unit to where I purchased it. This will not happen as the unit was a gift and I had to pick it up out of state. He then suggested I could replace the loose and missing lag bolts with a next size bigger bolt, that it should help.

jeff318rlt,
The slides do tip a small amount in either direction extend or retract. When extending they will almost drop into place when reaching their full extension. The bottoms of the slide floors should be covered with a PVC sheet and then caulked around the perimeter. Now as far as a warranty issue you can't just take your trailer to any KZ dealer. If you are far from the selling dealer you must first call KZ customer service. They will instruct you as to where to take it for repairs.

The slide dropping into place I do believe is normal on a slide with a flush floor. My old M-----a did the same thing. So when you retract the slide the inside edge sticks up or appears to be tilted.

Another good reason to come to the Kz Rally in Indiana 1st part of August You will find reps from the factory from Kz, as well as the Lippert an MorRyde for three days on site to do warranty work or any other things you might needed fixed if out of warranty As well I'm sure they will have the latest gadgets for you to look at empty your billfold if you wish to buy such They will be able to give you advice on your unit if you do not understand something or how it works. As well with the factory tour's you will be able to ask tons of questions, provide feed back and ask about newer stuff coming in the future ... Safe travels Chuck

Thank you. The bottom of the slide floor does indeed have a PVC sheet attached to it. Evidently the seal that is supposed to be there didn't show up that day. Nothing but bare wood along the side.I am quite handy, so, I will seal it with silicone, or possibly some of that expanding goop. I guess I am frustrated that a person has to do this kind of work on a brand new unit.
That is good information about customer service, and I thank you for that. The dealer that I picked up the unit must be trying to make a buck, or else he would have mentioned that fact. I will be calling customer service to discuss a couple of items. Once again, Thank you.

jeff318rlt I have to say that some of the salesman to day do not know their products very well, the owner of the dealership counts on his/her staff to know stuff like what your talking about ... I am one to not blame the dealership owner as i to blame the salesman who sold you the unit ... You might contact the Service department 1st before you call Kz, since it's new that should be covered by warranty an the dealer should take care of it ... If the service department will not honor such then it's time to move up the latter to the owner ... If the owner puts you off the Kz is the next step with customer service... Do not try an bypass the chain, work your way thought an believe me you will get better results an be less frustrated. Take from a few old guys here who have went thought such, customer service is very good at what they do but I am sure they will ask you if you have talked with you dealer 1st ... I will say it again the Kz Rally is the place to come if you can wait till August, all the factory reps will be there to fix things, and you get to meet all of us nice guys who are older than dirt but still camping Chuck
