We have a 2017 327VIK which I have several questions about. It was build in 3/16 but was titled as a 2017.
First off... let me just say that we love this trailer... we've hauled it all over the eastern US last season - from Maine to Virginia to NY, PA and OH and had very few problems with it. We're gearing up for the new season and have a few questions. I contacted someone at KZ directly (who was able to answer questions in the past) but he no longer seems to be answering so I thought I'd try here..
First off... the trailer is supposed to be wired for a backup camera. The venture website that shows the 2017 photos shows a trailer with what looks like the Furrion mounting bracket pre-installed just below the center back marker light. On ours there is a big white sticker there that says Winegard Voyager on it with a picture of a backup camera - but no mounting holes or bracket.
So if its pre-wired, how do you get the wire?
Do you just cut a hole where that sticker is and the wire will be tucked away in there somewhere?
Is the wire specific to the Voyager, or can I do the furrion (without having to cut off and replace the end?
How is the wire powered? (I've heard of power always on, power on when marker lights are on, or power only in reverse)
Next... it has the pre-wired for ZAMP plug on the back. We're looking a building our own 'portable' solar setup. I know the polarity of that plug is reversed and can deal with that but, where does that wire go? It doesn't appear to go straight to the battery - does it go to the power converter and tie into the battery charging loop there somehow? Are they color coded somehow to identify them? Also - what gauge (max amps) is that wire?
Finally, according to the sticker on trailer the GVWR is 8800 lbs which is significantly less then what Venture states on the website that the GVWR for 2017 is (they say 9600 lbs). In addition to GVWR there is a disclaimer on it that I've never seen on any previous trailer we've had. It states "cargo not to exceed 960 lbs". Which I assume is the GVWR-UVW ... or roughly 8800 lbs - 7750 lbs (using the 2017 numbers). If thats the case.. if you fill the water tanks with water (grey black and fresh) , put a battery on the front and fill the propane tanks you'll be overweight before you put anything inside to actually camp with. I am assuming water and propane would be considered "cargo" ... so am I reading this correctly?
