We insured our popup campers through our auto insurance with USAA, but now that we have the KZ hybrid I'm wondering if we're properly covered using the auto insurance. How have you insured your trailer?

We use State Farm for our cars and home, so I used them for my TT as well. It is a completely separate policy from the rest, so I don't think I got a discount. The price was very low and I take comfort in knowing my agent. He treated my friend very well for a hail damage claim on his TT last year.

We called USAA as we have a 14' KZ and technically it is covered when towing. we got a separate policy for 70.00 a year thru a USAA referral. Good luck. Ed

The trailer requires a separate policy then that of the tow vehicle for damage to the trailer. Rates are very reasonable. The tow vehicles policy will not cover things such as hail damage to the roof.

We have our all of our 5th wheels thru USAA no problems, did'nt need to go thought any referral it was direct with them..... I will say when we had our Class C we were refereed to another company through USAA do to the fact they stated they didn't insure coaches .....
We had a flat on the trailer last year, call USAA road side service and they were Johnny on the spot, put on spare, no charge, all within an hour ....

Speaking of insurance questions, I have one. I live in a fifth wheel that is stationary as I do not move it. I use my KZ for traveling. I did have my insurance through National Interstate, but they quit writing rv insurance for "stationary units". My insurance company ended up writing it with Foremost (similar to a mobile home policy) for about $400.00 more than my previous year's premium. I'm having trouble finding anybody to write it for a stationary unit. Does anybody have any ideas on who will write insurance for a stationary rv? I was told that I am paying over $100 a year for being stationary.

State Farm in Ohio will write insurance for a stationary unit along with Allstate. Hope that helps.

Thanks. It's insured for the moment, but I don't like the pricing and will be attempting to shop around and change it. It don't help that I live about 40 minutes from the Gulf Coast in Texas.
