I noticed that my tv (television not tow vehicle haha) was displaying a red light when my kz mxt 303 was not plugged into shore power. Could it be that the receptacle it is plugged into is actually 12v even though it looks like a 110v receptacle, powered by an inverter? I thought it was odd that they didn't include a dc (lighter type) receptacle somewhere for times when it's running on battery only so an inexpensive low wattage inverter could be used for charging phones etc? Am I missing something?

Check all outlets with a small 110v appliance to see which, if any, have power. A 12v outlet was not provided in order to save a few pennies. Be sure that you have a master battery switch to disconnect the battery when not in use, or it will discharge rather quickly. If there is no inverter, there may be a problem with your inverter allowing some battery power to bleed into the 110v system.
