Any insight on whether an awning that rolls out with your slide out is worth the money? So far I have not seen any leaks on my 2016 Spree Connect. However, I have seen several posts about the wall rotting around the slide out.

Its a personal choice/ There is good and bad. Cons are noisy in the wind, water pools in awning, the rail they fit into (on the side of your rv) is not secured well and can/will pull the screws out. Pros are that it keeps crud (snow, leaves, water) off the slide, keeps sun off slide top.

I agree, you won't be sorry if you get them, every 5th wheel we have owned has slide toppers on them, if they didn't have them on we put them on. I'm to old to be climbing up on a roof of a trailer to sweeping of a slide that has tree limbs, pine needles or leaves on the top of the slide before I retract it in ... But as I always say each their own, it's your trailer Safe Travels & Don't forget about the Kz Rally this Summer Chuck

Does anyone know if the Sportsmen 280 would have necessary backing behind the laminate to install a slide topper aftermarket as mine did not come with one? I already have water damage in that corner area.
Thanks Joe

I would 1st get the damage repaired and then get a slide topper put on Just putting a slide topper on now is sort of closing the barn door after the horse has left the barn Chuck an Hildi in S. Dakota headed to the barn

It protects the material from scraps/rips if you brush against anything.

My friend added a slide topper but has struggled to keep it from pooling water ever since. I think he's decided it's more trouble than it's worth.

Slide topper are great to keep leafs, tree branch's an rain of your slides, I myself an to old to have climb up on top of roof an sweep off my slides or carry a 8ft or 10ft latter around so I can climb on that to sweep off the slides If rain is pooling on a slide topper it needs adjusting so it won't sag so much Safe travels Chuck & Hildi in S Dakota headed for the Barn

(Buggy?) Buddy has the slide toppers and has to pull them in when it gets windy, just like an awning.

The farther out the slide extends, the worse the wind flapping problem. If you do decide to install a topper, make sure YOU know where the framing is and where the screws need to go. Some will just attach with screws only holding in the thin outside panel and say it will be fine.
