Does anyone know if KZ makes their own frames or buys them from a third party (like Lippert). I know that Lippert supplies a lot of "pieces" to the RV industry. I have heard some disturbing stories about Lippert frames and premature failures.

I have heard some disturbing stories about Lippert frames and premature failures. Nearly all KZ frames are Lippert and they make none in house. You should have a tag somewhere on the frame, but if it was a paper tag, it may be gone. Yes, they are poor quality and I have welded mine.

When you say that you "welded" your frame, was it to repair a crack or to strengthen an area you were concerned about?

When you say that you "welded" your frame, was it to repair a crack or to strengthen an area you were concerned about? Because the I-beams are extremely weak, the cross-members that support the water tank caused cracks in the I-beams at all four connection points. I welded the cracks, added steel tubing front to back and side to side connecting all six spring hangers. All Photos

That looks like a very professional job. I will keep an eye out for any cracks that might develop.

I had a friend that had the same problem, do not remember what brand, but both his bother and him did the same thing by welding extra I-beams .....
This sort of worried me as the last 5er we had which was over 10 years old never had a problem. Spending this kind of money and having a major problem like this would not be good... An of course this would happen when the trailer was just out of Warranty and coast you a arm and a leg if not done by yourself Ugh
