Hi, thought I'd post the interesting issue we had this past weekend camping. We've had our RV for years now and I've never had this rocker panel apart before.
Directly inside the door is a rocker panel with 3 switches for the living room lights, hall light and outside door light. At random points over the weekend, the living room lights would spontaneously turn on without us hitting the switch. I figured that it was a loose wire inside the panel causing the problem but waited until I got it home to tear it apart.
They were normal stranded wires, but the strands were too long on the bottom connector and were simply folded back over the connector. The top connector was coming into contact with these strands causing the light to go on even when the switch was off.
I thought it was really weird to have the problem after all these years! Seems to me that we should've seen something in the past. Just weird.
Anyway, since the connectors were all tight, I just slid a piece of electrical tape between the two connectors and wrapped it around the bottom connector so that the strands were no longer exposed.

Thanks for the heads up. You can be sure if someone has an issue, it will crop up sooner or later for someone else. My Durango's rocker panel is exactly the same as what you described, I think I'll open mine up and take a look see.

John, did that solve the problem? I think we may be having the same problem. On ours though, the switch stopped making a clicking sound when we turned it on, and then the lights would come on after a delay. Husband replaced the switch and it worked great for a couple of months, and now it is doing it again.

Hi Marlee, yes this did solve the problem that we were having. Sounds like your might be different than mine.

Could be Johnr. It has been working right for the last week. However, I did notice the switch was hot when I turned it off the other day. I think there's a problem somewhere.
