I am new to hard-sided campers and recently purchased a 2016 Sportsman Model 190 Classic. Toward the rear of the unit near the floor is a compartment with fuses for the electrical system. When the 120 volt AC power is in use there is a fairly noisy fan operating in that area. It runs continuously. I am wondering if that fan ever shuts off? The noise I know will keep my wife and I from sleeping if it is running at night. Anyone have an idea of what to do about it?
Thanks in advance... Jeff

Is your battery in good condition and fully charged? Do you have a number of 12 volt lights and appliances turned on? I believe you are referring to the cooling fan for the converter/charger. It must run when it is working above a certain level. I replaced the noisy cheap fan with one that has ball bearings.

Where might one find a replacement fan with ball bearings? How difficult is it to replace?

I got mine from Jameco. The one I used is no longer listed, but I'm sure they have one that will work. I don't know if yours is the same, but it was not difficult. It would be best if you pulled the unit out and take measurements and numbers. Be sure to disconnect the power and battery when working on it. Then you should be able to find the specs and get one that closely matches. I was able to get the same brand fan that would have cost the factory $.44 more.

I have a Spree 32BHS and my converter fan ran all the time the lights were on. I replaced all the bulbs in the camper with LED's. Now the fan never runs. If it does, I don't hear it. I'm like you, it drove us crazy. Not anymore. Probably cost 50 bucks to replace the bulbs. The LED's are much cooler to the touch now. The factory lights got so hot, I worried about them catching on fire. All is fine now.

Dealer replaced all of the sockets and bulbs and clear light covers as many had misshaped. KZ now uses LED lights in my model but ours was an early 2016 that's still had incandescent bulbs. With every light on in our camper it's less then 2 A draw now in the past that was just one. I bought my replacement LEDS all on amazon for like 20 total including shipping. I did a more lumen light for bathroom and above kitchen sink, and slightly less lumens for the other parts and above the master bed a red led so doesn't disturb DW when I turn it on early in the morning for sunrise walk or after star gazing.

Many LED's will interfere with TV reception when using the antenna. Scan for channels with all LED's turned off and then see if you lose any when the lights are on. The real cheap LED's, without a voltage regulator, don't cause interference but might not last as long.
Did you install a better fan yet?
