Hope to be heading to Lancaster, Pa the week after Easter, wanted to be gone by now but "Old Man Winter" got in the way. Maybe on to Maryland and NJ too, depends how long it takes us to do genealogy searches in Lancaster. Plan to be gone for 2-3 weeks. Got to get some geocaching in too.

Got the old RV out this past weekend. Checked the tires; hung the new cabinet door that broke at the end of last season; put a child safety lock on the same cabinet to hopefully keep from breaking it again; cleaned the inside; and got it ready to roll for next Friday.
All the systems seemed to be up and running. Looks like we had a mouse chew on a bar of soap under the sink in the bathroom. That was it. No mice signs anywhere else and there wasn't much sign under the sink. One of the cats must've gotten him before he could tell his friends. I thought I had steel wool around those pipes, but there sure wasn't any when I looked. I'll have to get some and fix that up. Didn't see any sign in the basement either. Very weird.
Anyone else getting ready?

Moving the trailer over to the driveway next week to get ready for our trip the end of the month. We want to put a draw in where they put that flip down tray...it's not under the sink so a draw will fit. We had mice before closing it up last fall...mouse traps took care of them, then we put foam around the pipes and in gaps in the under belly. It looks good so far. Moved battery from the basement so we can use the slide now. We can't wait to head for Lancaster....tracking resting places of relatives from my genealogy search. Lots of family history in Lancaster area for us.

Don't forget your kite and go to Sam Lewis State Park. Easy to get to from the Wrightsville exit on US30.

Thanks Lynn....I remember you mentioned that one time before. We will have the kites....always packed...we will give that a try. We have been down several times in the past few years but never had extra time, this time we do. Thanks again.

Lynn or anyone else familiar with the area, It doesn't appear that Sam Lewis State Park has camping, is there any CG closer than the 1/2 hour drive we will have from Old Mill Stream...next to Dutch Wonderland? The drive isn't bad, just thought we could move closer for a few days of flying. We are definitely going to fly....assuming the weather cooperates.

No camping at Sam Lewis and nothing great any closer. We like Pinchot for a state park, but still is some distance. Let me know if I can be of assistance.

Thanks Lynn, We will look into Pinchot if we decide to extend our stay. We like to explore new areas. I had seen Pinchot on the map but we've never been there. We need to be central in the Amish Lancaster area for about a week to do some genealogy and visit some cemeteries. We have done most the tourist stuff years ago....just enjoy the food and the backroads.

If you like woods, streams and nature, you might like Otter Creek Campground. The campsites there aren't the greatest, but in early season you can probably find a suitable one. The young family running it is trying hard to make it work. Nearby is Indian Steps museum with much history of the local Indians that lived right there on the Susquehanna River. Otter Creek is closer than Pinchot but I didn't mention it because it is just OK. Hiking in the area is great in my book. Otter CreekIndian Steps

Six more days until the camp grounds opens! I can smell the bbq grills and fire pits burning. Trees are starting to green up and the tulips are blooming. Mushrooms to follow. Turkeys should start gobbling any time. I love spring! Everything is in one spot in the garage ready to be loaded in the truck to take to the camp grounds. It will be nice to see my summer friends again. All the winter honey do list items are done. Now I can start on the summer ones. Hope all have a great year camping!

Hi everyone, here in central Arkansas many of the local campgrounds are open year around. For us, the camping season stars tomorrow. We are headed to a COE campground on the shore of the Arkansas river for two nights. This is a dress rehearsal for a two week trip to Florida in mid April. Weather here is going to be mid 60's to low 70's during the day and low 40's at night. We'll give the heater a good workout.

Thanks for the Otter Creek idea. We don't mind a basic campground, just us and the dog....don't need a lot of frills. We just don't like dumps, though we have stayed in some a couple of times out of desperation. We might check it out.

I live not far up the road, look at the map, on their website, and you will see that Route 425 makes a right turn at New Bridgeville. At that point, I am just 1/4 mile straight ahead. If you need anything, just let me know. I'll be on long trip starting about the end of April.
