I have a 2010 inferno 4005 and just recently when I fill my water tank and I shut off the water once water comes out the vent line it keeps flowing. It eventually drains the tank. My question is how to keep this happening. I currently plug it when done filling and unplug it when I get ready to use it. So the vent line is syphoning the tank. The only way for this to happen is if the vent line is run to the bottom of the tank. I've tried to pull it up and out with no luck and I've tried blowing air back into the tank with no luck. What changed because it never did that the first 3 years I had it. When I filled it and water came out I just shut the water off and it stoped coming out of the vent line. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Need more information. Do you have the gravity fill or pressure fill system? In other words, do you fill the tank by removing a cap and squirting water in there, or do you connect the hose to the trailer and open a valve? Is the vent next to the cap, or do you have vents down thru the bottom?

I do not have a gravity fill. It is a regular hose connection.

I'd have to suggest having a dealer take a look at this one. I've never heard of a vent line siphoning an entire tank of water. The line should only be right at the top of the side of the tank. What happens when you unplug it when ready to use? Does it start drawing water out again?

Yes sometimes it does continue to drain. When that happens I just plug it again and then use some water to pull a vacuum on the tank then I unplug it and then it stops.

KZ made some goofy changes around the time your trailer was built. I went thru Hades till I got mine fixed. Now once again, where exactly is this vent?

The vent is under the trailer point down by the water tank drain.

OK, now that I know that you have a pressure fill only system with bottom vents, maybe I can help.
KZ did away with the gravity fill for several years to save a few bucks, it didn't work so they went back to the old system. The pressure fill system needed vents of course, so they just ran hoses from the top corner of the tank down thru the bottom. While driving, those vents spilled water all over the highway on turns. Most folks never knew there was a problem but some installed valves in the vent hose. Bad idea! If you fill the tank and forget to open the valve, the tank will swell and maybe burst.
So, what is happening on your trailer? There should be two vent hoses (for safety) and one drain hose, but someone may have modified that. KZ had put out a memo to dealers describing a convoluted scheme of looping the vent hoses in a circle, but that too didn't work. Only the drain hose should have a valve. Perhaps you are simply opening the drain valve by mistake. As you know, the vent hose should be attached at the top and there should be only a small amount of water coming out of the vent and then stop. If the trailer is not level within a couple of inches, both side to side and front to back, the vent can drain a lot of water.
After verifying that you are not using the drain valve, then you need to trace the vent hose back to the tank and see that it is attached at the top and that no dip tube is inside the tank. You should find a way to route the vent lines so they exit the trailer well above the level of the water tank, otherwise you will lose a lot of water. A siphon can only work if the higher end is immersed in the water and the other end is lower. KZ called the problem a siphon, but it was just simply a spill.
So report back, I know it won't be fun opening the belly to follow hoses, but you want to do it one time and have it work. Take some photos as you go.

Lynnmor is correct. I have a 2012 Durango that was exactly the same. My dealer applied an KZ approved solution that put my vent hose pretty high up on the trailer. That solved that issue for me. You could put a valve on the vent hose, but if you ever forget to open it while you are filling it, it will indeed swell up to the point it could burst ... so that's not a real solution.
How bad did mine "siphon": Went on a short, maybe 50 mile camping trip on a very winding road. I could see the water trail in my rear view mirror every time I went around a right hand turn. I had heard of this happening, so I had brought 2 15 gallon jugs of water with me "just in case". It took both jugs and then refilling one more to fill the camper's fresh water tank. I would consider 45 gallons of water making the tank just about empty.
Good luck with your fix, I would imaging that KZ will no longer fix that issue as a warranty issue.

Thank you for the response. Defiantly not confusing the vent line and the manual drain. In the beginning It worked as it should when I would fill the tank, water would come out the vent line and stop once I shut the water off. Just to be clear, now once water stats coming out of the vent hose it comes full streem and does not stop until he water tank is completely empty. I will have to look for the second vent, haven't seen that you. I'm thinking of re-routing the vent line a different way. But I still want to find out what is causeing the tank to keep draining. I will take some pics and keep everyone updated as to what I find.

That is so weird. Can't imagine what could be causing that. Keep us updated on what, if anything, you figure out.
