Does anyone have any positive or Negative things to say regarding the insulation on the Spree. We are teachers and have the ability to camp when it's chilly. Thanksgiving and Christmas this year would have been so awesome to camp as the weather here in Richmond, VA area was awesome. There have been so many weeks I would have given anything to be doing that.
I have been madly reading all the camping forums over my break which got me thinking about the insulation on this trailer. I have looked and researched most if not all other areas and this one was brought to my attention in another forum.
Has anyone used their Spree in chillier weather? Good or bad thought....experienced RV'ers are great for learning and very appreciated.
THANKS

If the temps are in the upper 40s we us a small elect. heater and it works fine. Any colder and we use the furnace to get a more even heat. No problems with either. Its not often that we camp when the temp is in the 30s.

Reality is that we don't often get winters/ Christmas vacations that are in the 70's so I don't see this as a consistent thing, but someone did get me thinking about it. Thanks for you opinion and comments.

We have a 2014 KZ 261RKS and have camped with a heavy frost, freezing rain that made us wait until later in the morning to leave until the sun melted the ice off the slide and the antenna so we could bring them in, and the hose from the water supply to the trailer froze. All resulted with a toasty warm interior. We only use the furnace. Ours has heat in the enclosed "under-belly" which keeps the trailer plumbing from freezing...something to think about if you are thinking about electric heaters. I have to admit the temps probably did not go below the high 20's but it has been good for us as long as the furnace was running. I am not sure about colder temps.
One of the places we noticed cold drafts was in the ceiling vents. We purchased the vent cushions, made a huge difference.
Our trailer is so tight and well insulated we get condensation on the windows and sometimes the ceiling when we run the furnace for a long time. It is a catch 22 but we sometimes crack one of the vents at night to help with air flow.
Happy Camping.

If you camp in cold weather you will get condensation on the windows no matter what the brand. Sprees have r7 insulation in the walls...very minimal but generally the industry standard. If I were you I would order the trailer and get the extra insulation package and dual pane windows. On my spree we notice condensation on the walls also along the top and bottom because of the aluminum framing. If you get the single pane windows you can use the plastic film type shrink window covers to help with heat loss. The roof vent "pillows" do help a lot. We use 2 small electric heaters when we go to myrtle beach in February and never need the furnace. In general most rv's are NOT designed for cold weather use.

I know the reality of this lovely VA weather we have been having is short lived and not a every year thing, but I just wondered about insulation and if there were other trailers with more. Thanks everyone for you advise. It is well appreciated.

I think you have to get into a 5th wheel to get any better insulation. spree's have r7 insulation without the option for dual pane windows. durango's have r11 insulation with an option for an all weather insul package and dual pane windows. depends what you want or need. we camped on thanksgiving with low 40 temps at night with zero issue. the furnace actually didn't even run that much to keep a comfortable temp in the trailer.

We have pretty much decided on the Spree328 IK, and waiting for some information from the Venture SportTrek gentlemen I've been emailing this week. We are comparing options and package cost. We just don't want a 5'er yet, although we did spend a good deal of time looking at the Durango's. The upcoming RV show is in Feb and lord knows what that will bring... we could be in a whole other direction by the time that is all done. LOL.... Thanks for your help.

hello, we have a Spree 322RES and used it when it was chilly around 35 degrees and we had no issues. Having a fireplace helped a lot with keeping the RV warm and the furnace didn't run a lot. being you live in Richmond area you should be fine as long as the temp doesn't go below 35 degrees. Happy Camping.

Hey,
We have the 2016 328IK and really enjoy it. Get the electric fireplace and 2nd air conditioner! As far as the insulation is concerned, it seems solid. I did discover, however, that the fully enclosed underbelly only contains insulation from the axles forward(which cover the tanks and most water lines). It would have been nice for KZ to add the insulation throughout the rest of the underbelly, as it would help to keep the feet warm on those cold nights, but I guess they needed to keep that extra bit of expense.
Overall a great trailer with the theater seats and 3rd slide.
Enjoy!

This is awesome to hear. We are very interested in the Venture Sport trek and it's similar to the Spree, but the more I look at the Spree the more I like it. Can I ask a question? What packages did you opt to get. Venture sent me the MSRP and there package choices and I amazed at the cost and the options. GO BIG or GO HOME... if we are buying this size we are going all out, but I was just curious about what choices you had on the Spree 328 IK. The Richmond RV show is in a month or so and I am looking forward to it. Hope to see this model of Spree. Thanks for the info.

hi dojo1228, I saw the 328IK at a dealer near me in Delaware and the layout is very nice. I don't know if the dual pane is an option, if it is, don't spend the money on it, it will add additional weight to the TT. go with the second A/C, porcelain toilet, maxxair fans, fireplace (Elite package). I don't think the TT has the option of upgrading to All weather package like the 5th wheels. good luck.

dojo 1228,
We opted for the 2nd AC and the fireplace. We also went for the "Elite Package". Everything possible except for the solid surface countertops.
Would probably upgrade to them if I had to do it all over.
