We have a 2012 Sportsmen 2303S. I am curious as to why the battery on the camper doesn't charge while being towed, and yes we have it connected to the truck. Thanks for any input.

Had the same problem with our Montego Bay a couple years ago and it turned out to be a blown fuse in my truck. I have a GMC and the fuse was in a box under the hood and not in the fuse block under the dash. I would have never looked there but the RV dealer knew where to look. If you can find out which pin in your plug sends power to the RV battery you can check your truck plug for power to that pin with a simple 12 volt test light. I don't remember which one it is but if you call your dealer he should be able to tell you.

I just thought of something else. If you are new to the RV may be you have the battery disconect switch on the RV turned off.

If you look at the factory 7 pin connector it no longer has a charge wire in it. The center pin was the charge contact and is now set for back-up lights. If you want it to charge you will need to run a #6 wire from the battery with an inline 50 amp breaker and remover the center b/up light wire and replace with the new wire.

I've read and re-read your reply several times and for the life of me I can't figure out what in the world you're talking about. The charge line is wired to Pin 4 of a 7-pin Bargman connector, not the centre pin ... as long as the OP's vehicle is wired with a charge line and the appropriate fuse and/or relay is in place +12 vdc will be fed back to the trailer battery from the tow vehicle. Pinouts for the 7-pin Bargman are here ... picasaweb.google.com/114965508600034918003/Misc#5672349153855204242

My husband looked in the fuse box under the hood and there wasn't even a fuse in the slot for the battery charge. (There lies the problem) Upon further inspection he found there was a 30 amp fuse in the power running boards slot which we do not have. He just took that out and put it in the battery charge slot as it is the same amps, seems to work.

My truck came the same way, was driving me nuts. Just happened to mention it one day at my RV dealer and he knew right away. Go figure.

It's just like using a computer--it's simple if someone tells you how but next to impossible without some help from someone.
