Hello I just bought a 2011 Sportsman 242 TT and am new to this ( I tent camp and had a old pop up) and just want to see if I have this right. I don't know if you can zoom in on the picture or not but my TT only has a City Water/fill hook up and no gravity fill for the tank by looking at the valves at the water pump I am guessing to fill the tank i need to turn the silver valve to open (V1) in picture and leave the other two close (v2,v3). And then for city have all 3 closed is this correct?

Correct. There should be a pair of vent pipes under the trailer that will spill out water when the tank is full. They will then spill out the water in the tank as you drive. If you have this system, you need to correct it if you want to depend on tank water.

Thanks Lynnmor I will have to check for those pipes. 80% of the time i wont be relying on the tank our normal campground we go to has water hook up at the site we just have never use it but there a few trips were we have ventured out that do not have hook up at the site and I just wanted to make sure i understood how to fill the tank and be as prepared as i can be.

Which side of that water pump is the inlet? I think it's on the right with a filter attached?
I'm guessing V3 would be the winterizing bypass? V2 is the fresh tank draw? That would say to me that the entire left side is flow to the camper. How does V1 allow for fresh tank fill? Where does the water come from?
Where does the hose connected at V3 go? Maybe I'm confusing myself?

The first time that I went to a state park with no water hook up made for a bad weekend. Filled the tank and drove about 80 miles on a mix of curvy mountain roads and interstates. Set up the camper next to 3 other friends and family campers. Was a hot day so I took a quick shower, then the wife reported no water. WTH! Found the tank gage reporting 1/3 full. Tore down and pulled the trailer to a hydrant and filled up, then setup next to the camp host site where I could drag a hose to his faucet. Then drove in to town to get a replacement water heater element because the lack of water burned it out.

Maybe I'm confusing myself? It looks to me and i can be wrong but the blue pipe coming in on the left side is the incoming from my city water/fill and you then would open V1 the silver value to fill the tank. and then to use the tank you would turn v2 on and then turn the pump on and water would be pulled through the pump and out v2. And yes v3 is the winterizing bypass siphon house. or am i looking at that wrong if v2 would be the tank fill do i need the pump on to fill the tank then?

That could not of been fun i'm sure you had a few choice words to say. I just look and found the two vent pipe coming down did you just put shut off in them to close while you were driving?

If you valve the vent pipes and ever forget to open them when filling or using, the tank will expand or collapse causing severe damage. The vents need to exit the coach well above water level. Again, look at my photos for ideas and then get back.

Ok, I see it. To the left is the city water pressure. Open V1, fills fresh water tank. V2 wouldn't matter if it is open because the pumps normally have backflow preventers built into them.
