My guess is that the shell was designed to accommodate different floor plans. It just didn't fit your particular floor plan all that well.

Yah, your camper should handle a regular toaster. I assume you have a 30 amp hookup which will handle that fine. A/C, toaster and microwave at same time might be pushing it though. My 2011 Sportsman CLassic 19BH had an outside outlet just down to the left of the door. I assume most all will have an exterior outlet. If not, you can simply run an extension cord from the power panel on the campsite hookup.
I suggest always carrying a couple spare fuses of all sizes in your camper in case you do blow a fuse.

Thanks. I too could be back at some point as well. Who knows. With that, I am now going to delete my account. Have a great camping summer everyone. Bruce

I have always loved camping. From my grade school years camping out in the back yard all the way up to my later years pulling a camper down the road with the family. But life happens. There are a lot of things I don't do now that I did when I was 10 years old. But, I still look back on those times with a lot of fond memories. And rather than getting depressed when I see a camper rolling down the road, I am reminded of the past fun I have had.
660, I hope you have wonderful summer camping season this year and for many more.

Well folks, I sold my camper. It served me well and actually made me money through renting it out. But, it was time to let it go. Kinda sad about that but I have other interests and draws on my time now. It has been great to be a member of this forum although I wish it was a bit more active. But the people are great and helpful when asked.
Take care everyone and every time I see a KZ tooling down the road, I will remember my Sportsmen Classic 19BH with fond memories.

Very good advice lynnmor. On my 19BH, the plumbing would be obstructed on the other side by the fridge and furnace.

js239: I agree, it is like that in my 2011 Sportsmens Classic 19BH. I never use my shower however. First of all, it is too small for me and second of all, it just looks like a water problem to me as you described.
However, I don't know of any dedicated shower walls you could use, but you might consider Milk House board as a custom solution.

Yah, I think my Sportsmens Classic 19BH is less than two inches....probably not more than 1.5" if that.

My guess is that the pump is bad. I wish I knew of some ways to trouble shoot it to make sure, but it just seems like the pump has lost its seal and has water back flowing even during use. A replacement pump is not that expensive and not hard to install....at least it wasn't in my 2011 19BH. If I wasn't an old fat guy, it would have been a lot easier even. This is the replacement pump I used. Oh, it was sooo much quieter as well.
My pump was pumping fine, it would pressurize just fine, but about every few minutes it would start running again without having used and water. My problem seemed to be a faulty check valve/diaphram which was slowly allowing water to flow back into the FW tank.

I have gotten a lot of use and my money's worth out of my Sportmens Classic 19BH. But, I got a good deal on it two years old. I don't think I would ever buy one new for the price they want. I understand these things are no Air Streams or even Jaycos, but I just think too many corners are cut with them.
Also, I should add that my trailer is 11 years old now and I cannot attest to the quality of the newer ones.

So, if the 19BH is approx 2800 dry, add all the batteries and propane, water, personal gear and I am up to about 3000. That leaves about 500 lbs. The wife isn't going to be happy sleeping under the camper.

I took mine from Wisconsin to Corpus Christy Texas and back several summers ago. It was pretty well loaded with me, my wife and daughter and all our stuff. I know the FW tank was full. I am sure I was over the capacity, but it towed just fine for the 3500 mile trip. No sway bars or WD hitch either.

I agree with lynnmor. These "economy" Sportsmen campers are built with cost as big consideration. They didn't go above and beyond with most of the components on these things. The driving factor in their design was cost. I am not saying they are a bad buy, they just present to a different market than a Airstream does. They are KIA class, not Lexus class. Like a lot of other people, I cannot afford a Lexus and I cannot afford an Airstream. But my 19BH has served me well over the last ten years and provided me with my money's worth in entertainment and memories.

I am not sure if the payload capacity is limited soley by the axle or not. But, even if you swap in a new axle, it won't change your official rating. It might actually make it safer, but the official towing capacity will not change. In the event of a mishap, that could work against you. I am not saying don't do it, but I would just be aware of that. I assume you pack up the Tow vehicle for the trip out and back, but if not, consider traveling with more in the tow vehicle.

I have a MIG welder and could weld the "perchs" onto the top of the axle. Do they make the perches that I could just order them or do they have to be custom made. If they are available for purchase, do you have a source? Will the leaf springs stay together when I take off the U bolts or is that an issue? And I assume the Perch is not welded or fastened to the leaf springs in any other way other than the U Bolts? Here is my current setup.

So basically, we are putting the springs on top of the axle instead of under it?

Are we talking about the fresh water tank drain valve here? The valve you use to let the water drain out of the tank onto the ground?
