Do you have any indoor storage areas in your neck of the woods? Here in northeastern Ohio, northwestern PA area there are old salt mines that you can store RVs in. A lot of people seem to use those. My father-in-law and one brother-in-law both use covers over the winter. They haven't reported any issues to me. All tucked away until April. At wampum underground in western pa been using this place since my popup

you should periodically replace the cotter pin on your hitch as well. overtime the cotter pin that holds your hitch pin into the receiver can wear out and become loose, gravity will take over turning your cotter pin upside down where if loose can fall out. seen it happen before.

went camping this past weekend, everything went fine until packing up. when I start winding in my power awning, it suddenly stopped half way in. when I notice that the round roller was separating from the retracting arm. looking closer I noticed that I lost a screw holding it together, and the roller got twisted and bind in the process. found 1 slightly larger screw in my junk drawer just to keep it together so I could close the awning for the drive home. will try driving new self tapping screws in this week and hopefully it will hold .

Sorry to hear about your problems, besides a few minor flaws, (and they all have them) like screws stripping out, and cheap plumbing, I have been pretty happy with my 2015 196 model. My biggest late is the top cabneit space, above the sink, need to mod some kind of organizer so my dishware and cups stay more organized, especially in transit.

Better put the dog in the truck and drive to the dog park. How else you suppossed to get there if you can't walk the dog on the road or through someone else's grass. Sounds like stupid rules to me, I probably won't ever go there

You can also double check for the backing plate with a strong magnet before drilling holes into your rig

not sure on your unit, however, on mine, when I use the city water , no need to run off pump as the system is pressurized, when running off holding tank, I have a lighted pump switch in the bathroom on the wall that must be on to pressurize.

There should be a series of peg holes in both sides of awning so you can pitch in either direction. Expecting heavy rain at times this weekend

I hold a rally every year with another camping forum, some in the group do also, some tend to go to the same campground , but I like to move around as I usually draw in New members form different areas willing to travel. Some rally. Draw 5 sites, where others get 45 sites. 2 years ago I held a rally in a private campground in north east PA, I had to reserve a large block of sites and a hefty deposit down, turned out weather wasn't the greatest that weekend and half the sites cancelled, after some back and forth. With campground they did give me my money back for unreserved sites, but hesitate to do so. Doing this for 4 years now, I find it easier to hold rallys in state parks now. Most in PA can be reserved 11 months out, and 6 in Ohio. We usually vote on a location, and date. Then people make there own reservation, if they cancel, pay the small fee and move on... Not telling you how to run yours. But this seems a lot less stressful. For me. Hope this helps. John

Ok saved up some extra change, and now getting ready to purchase. Going with the progressive industries ems as I agree it is the best. A pedistol mount would be easy, but worried about theft, as I camp mostly at state parks, and go explore for hours at times, wondering if anyone ever mounted one in a 196s escape? Not much room, thinking about cutting a hole in side of cabneit under fridge where fuse box is, as I assume this is where the power cord comes in, just double checking with those who may have hard wired one in a escape 196. For best location before cutting into my new camoer

Awning switch here as well, either your awning led lights don't work, are not there, or switch is screwed up would be my guess, the led strip sometimes hard to see if awning is not completely out, as it sits on the rail and gets covered by front valance if not fully extended. hard to believe dealer didn't know what it,s for, I would take it back and make sure it gets fixed. The water heater and pump switchas is also red. Lighted. But should be in the bathroom. As in my 2015.

Start towing my 196s with the chevy avalanche, 5.3. Tows well, but did notice the bed squats pretty good , more so. Than with the jeep, but I had a lift on it, may have to play and readjust the WDH alittle, but very happy with the bigger motor and truck
