I recently bought a 2022 Durango gold 382MBQ (slightly used) with a solar charging system (30 amp MPPT by Xantrex, 2 100w soft panels hooked up in series). When I got it to my campsite I realized the xantrex panel was showing an error. Turns out that error was due to a blown fuse where the charge controller goes into the battery. The fuse was a 20 amp and the holder (factory installed as far as I can tell) was labeled for 20 amp as well. I replaced that fuse, checked the only setting the charge controller has (battery type) which was wrong and moved on. Next day fuse was blown again. This time I brought the battery in to an interstate dealer, where the less than 1 year old battery tested bad (bad cell which also caused my leveling system issues). Replaced the battery, and repeated. Another blown fuse. Not right away after uncovering panels, but sometime that day. Looking at the displays, and testing with a fluke meter, I have good connections from the panel to the controller, and from the controller to the battery. My only thought is it has to be something wrong with the controller, which also likely burned out the last battery. Someone with more electrical knowledge and solar experience than myself want to fact check me there? After hours on hold with xantrex they are sending me a replacement controller so apparently they agree but I’d love some confirmation on here before I hook up a new controller.
I’ve been hooked up to 50 amp service this entire time as well. Battery never should have been needing much of a charge.

I had the same issue. 30 amp solar controller with a 20 amp battery fuse. KZ said put in a 30 amp fuse. No more problems.

Yep. Didn't want to pay the extra nickel for a 30a fuse/holder so put in the marginal 20a. Bet the pre-Thor KZ would have done it right the first time.

Fixed this a while ago but figured I’d update in case anyone was interested. So after troubleshooting with a buddy who knows his way around a multi meter found that the MPPT charge controller was the only thing that could be at fault. Called dealership that I purchased the trailer from, but as I didn’t purchase an extended warranty, and the bumper to bumper warranty is only good for first owner, they agreed that it was likely the charge controller but wouldn’t do anything else. I called the company that makes the charge controller. After many attempts to get on the phone with a rep, I finally got through after an hour or so of hold time. Rep agreed with my assessment, shipped a new charge controller. 4 screws and 3 wires later, problem solved. No longer blowing fuses, charging as it should.

Glad you were able to track down the issue and even more glad that the controller mfr stepped up and replaced it. Thanks for the update! Lyle
