Glad you all find my comments amusing. Elkart county Indiana and The surrounding area is now in the top 10 places in the USA for The covid-19 virus. The social upheaval part of my comment was not to warn you of the Amish and their thug culture but of the unsavory people you may run into getting there. Excuse me for having the audacity to be concerned about your health and well being.
Sorry, no disrespect intended.
I am anticipating the current political upheaval will die down by August, due to arrests or the population's short attention span.
I don't know where you got your Covid statistics, (perhaps it's percentage of population?) but according to Johns-Hopkins
link here are the top 20 Counties for cases, edited from the top 50.
Granted, the Counties with the highest infection amounts most likely have much higher population density, so their infection rate will undoubtedly be higher.
I included my own County for reference, which seems to have a similar amount of cases as Elkhart IN. Washoe: 1,685 VS Elkhart: 1,585.
Cook
This is where i got my info
www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/indiana-coronavirus-cases.htmlIn Elkart county alone 1 in every 122 people have been or are infected as of 6/7
LaGrange county where Shipshewana is located is only slightly better. There is a very good chance you will come in contact
with someone in these two counties who either has or is a carrier of the virus. Almost every county in Indiana
is on the decrease EXCEPT Elkhart and LaGrange where confirmed cases are increasing. I can not predict what the
future will bring, but I will not be the one responsible for the transmission of an infectious disease.
I'm glad that you think that the civil unrest is going away and will be gone by August, we
are going to have to agree to disagree on that. The surrounding metropolitan areas, Toledo, Detroit, Chicago, Indianapolis
and South Bend are rife with civil disobedience and after they destroy or ruin everything in those areas
you would be foolish to think that it will not spill over into into Elkhart or Shipshewana
I will not explain any longer my reasons for canceling the rally.
Laurie and I volunteer our time and work very hard to put this event together, we get absolutely no compensation
other than the knowledge that everyone is enjoying themselves and having a general good time.
It is very disheartening when the rug is pulled from under you for reasons you have no control over.
It's an even bigger slap in the face when the people you are trying to host make light of a serious set of circumstances,
instead of being understanding and supportive. The comments that were made to some may seem humorous,
to me they were insensitive and just plain rude given the current situation.
