Hi folks,
Just joined to learn and possibly contribute in the information sharing. Except for a camper van I built some 40 plus years ago, my wife and I are new to RV'ing. We have a 2015 Spree Connect 232IKS we purchased last August and have been out 4 times. It's just right for two and easy to pull and park. We like it a lot and have had no major issues. The frame and axle assemblies had a lot of surface rust new on the lot, obviously not coated correctly at the factory. Most all of the new trailers on the lot were that way and not specific to brand. I thought about asking the dealer to "fix" it but figured that would entail taking it into the shop and hitting it with a couple of cans of spray paint so I decided to handle it myself. I have the rust converter/primer and paint and am just waiting on the weather to get it done. We live in NE Alabama.

This is what I have used on my last two trailers and like you are waiting for warmer weather to paint the frame of the current one. This paint is very durable. I also paint the "A" frame and rear bumper with truck bed liner. www.eastwood.com/rust-encapsulator-27490.html

Thanks for the tip, looks like some good stuff. The reviews are really good. I didn't see this one in my search, maybe because I used converter instead of encapsulator for a search term. I've already purchased Corroseal however, so that's what I'll use this time. I admit to being a little paranoid about rust after living and working for30 years on the Florida gulf coast where a little surface rust could rapidly turn into a nightmare if left unchecked. It's a never ending battle. I used a lot of products (mostly the acids) over the years, thought I'd try a more environmentally friendly one with a built in primer. We'll see.

Oops, went back and looked again and behold, there it was, listed 5th on the first page. A senior moment I guess.

yes, I agree, take care of the rust early before it becomes a nightmare. By all means use what you have already purchased, it will be interesting to see how it works and stands up to the elements so it can be another option to others. I just spent the entire day this past Saturday painting mine. At least it is done.
