After unhitching and auto leveling my 2022 Durango Gold 356RLQ in my driveway I want to replace my spare tire under the rig, so I need to go under the rig to do this. Even though the rig is chocked, all the Lippert hydraulic jacks are extended, and the wheels are all on the ground, I plan on using one or two jack stands under the frame just in case the hydraulic jacks move. Is this overkill? I have observed once or twice that a jack was retracted several inches after I had leveled the rig.

I would consider it overkill. As long as the wheels are chocked, even if all the jacks retracted/failed at once which is highly unlikely, the trailer will nose down. Provided the spare tire on your unit is located behind the double axles there is no way the trailer could come down on you. Plus its not like it would just slam down on the ground. It would slowly lower to the ground. But at the end of the day do whatever makes you feel comfortable and if that means putting some additional jack stands then go for it.

I would vote overkill as well, but you've got to do what makes you feel safe. My driveway has got a decent slope to it and I always leave the RV connected to the truck when on it. Maybe you could hook it up to your truck while working on it?

overkill. Off the ground on the hydraulic levelers, I had stands for just in case with no wheels.

I vote overkill as well. Mine are the electric variety but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worked under mine. With the tires are on the ground you should be very safe.

Geez. I've had to crawl under to grab the spare to change a tire. Did this before jacking up, so 4 tires on the ground and hitched to the truck. No jack stands used or needed. How else would you do it?
