So I bought a new 292RDK Connect last fall, I took it into a local dealer for the repairs a few weeks ago. I was told this morning that KZ will not cover the factory defects and to top it off, I have to pay the dealer a diagnostic fee. So far I've left two messages and an email into KZ and awaiting a response.

If this is not the selling dealer they do not have to do the work. It's not like buying a car. If it is not an actual KZ dealer, KZ may not cover warranty work. As far as KZ returning calls and emails, don't hold your breath.

I have learned that the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and warranties are just fiction. Your warranty basically covers the box and all the components are covered by the maker of those. If you could elaborate on the defects, perhaps we could offer some advice. I believe that any owner of an RV better learn to do the work if they want to have use of the unit and to preserve their sanity.

Our dealer from whom we bought our KZ has been great regarding warranty work, although we’ve had very little with this 5th wheel. Our previous RV was purchased through them and they always went above and beyond for warranty and any service work. Having said that, they did tell us that they will not service RVs or trailers that were not purchased through them. Their reasoning is that if they did that, they would not be available to quickly service RVs that they sold. We purchased our 5th wheel through them this past January specifically because of their amazing service department.

We had no issues with the dealer we got our Durango D250RES from. Furnace ducting issue which they gave me a loaner vehicle to drive around town. Had a decal peeling issue and the propane regulator recall done at the same time. Dropped it off on a Monday and picked it up on the Friday.

Update on repairs. After communicating with KZ, they had me take coach to a "general" RV repair shop. They were able to get everything repaired within a couple days. Im not privy to the communcation that Lazy Days had with KZ, but based on what I was able to gather, KZ did not approve the recommended repair method from LD's. The repair cost from 2nd service provider was a fraction of the cost. We'll see how everything looks and works on our next outing.

You said the wouldn't fix defects and you contacted the factory who sent you to a repair shop to have what done? Lynnmor called it the factory does the box and the items installed are covered by the maker, Suburban, Coleman, Dometic, etc.

This lack of committment to warranties I'm seeing across almost every manufacturer. They all seem to work on the Danny DeVito principle from the film Matilda. What these companies need is a little "encouragement".... We've had LegalShield for years and they've helped us collect mountains more we were legitimately owed than we've ever paid in premiums. Plus they have a great ID theft protection that goes with it. When stubborn "defendants" get a lawyers letter with a dozen or more partner names on it, it's truly spectacular how quickly they find a solution!! If you want to know more, PM me. But, seriously, until "we the people" push back, these companies will continue on their merry way, assuming mediocrity is just fine!
