Hi Folks, Just sold our trailer and looking to upgrade. We are considering purchasing Connect C271BHK today. The trailer is located about 3 hours away and the layout look perfect for us. It has the climate package. Looking at the photos the seller just sent I noticed 2 things. In the 1st picture there looks like a vertical delamination outlined in blue going by the propane exhaust port. Does this looks like the beginning of a delamination from a leak? The second picture the dark brown face of the slide looks wavy. Would this happen to be insulated are a part of the climate package? The owner indicated there is another 4 years of warranty on this trailer and did not think the delamination in the first picture was a big deal. As much as we like the trailer I'm thinking this is a deal breaker for us though and not sure if it worth the effort to go see it. Interested in the collective wisdom of people that are familiar with KZ build methods before we pull the plug completely.

Who's doing the another 4 year warranty? KZ is 2 years and dealers are selling a "forever warranty". Read some of the posts here by chuck and his forever. The sellers uhhmmm pulling you leg, any delamination I would pass.

Yes, that sure looks like delamination, you will see small waves here and there on most hard side coaches, but the size of that speaks volumes. AFAIK KZ doesn't do extended warranties, so it's some slippery aftermarket warranty. I can probably come up with what the "Forever Warranty" company will tell you: Due to failure to properly seal and maintain the exterior of this trailer warranty coverage for this repair is denied. I agree with what Edd said, I would pass. With the way the market is heading, wait a bit, I bet you can find a heavily discounted new unit.

A quick update - we went to see the trailer last night. It was obvious that the owner has taken very good care of the trailer. The slide is fine - that is not water damage. Very odd to see the long linear vertical delamination down the side of the trailer - almost like it is following a stud. Very narrow and straight (2-3" wide). There was another shorter matching one on the other side of the trailer perhaps this is a bonding/manufacturing issue qat the time this coach was produced at the factor. No obvious softness.
He is going to followup with the dealer - I requested that they at least assess the warranty claim and book it in next spring if they are too busy right now. Fiona passed approx 100km north of us as a tropical storm (not too bad locally so it would not have damaged this trailer) and Pine Acres RV are dealing with a lot of claims this fall through their dealer chain.
Real shame that a relatively new trailer would have this sort of issue - hopefully they cover it. Either way I don't want to worry about it getting worse.
Many thanks Edd055 and nvguy for taking time to inform me about the potential warranty limitations. You saved me some sleepless nights. These online communities are fantastic.

Geez - just searched Chucks posts. What a nightmare! Is it common for people to tilt a trailer before closing the slides??? No one in our crew does that...presumably they mean using the tongue jack. I check for debris before we close and have never noticed much in terms of pooling water (that should happen anyway on a proper roof). We always put the stabilizers down before the move our slide.

sorry for all the posts. Trying to figure out where Azdel was used in the Connect trailers. The kz website indicates Azdel is used but seems unclear as to exactly where. Would the sidewalls be made with Azdel panels?

The outside of a laminated siding is just thin fiberglass material glued to a thin plywood. You may be seeing where the plywood sheets butt against each other. You can see it on almost every trailer of this type if you look close enough. It might be just fine, compare that seam to others around the trailer and see if there are others every 4 feet.

Thank lynnmore. That is what the seller thought too. It is just a little more than I would expect. You can push on it and there is definitely a small separation on each side.

Nope, mines a 17 like chucks and I'm sue has more miles. I level and I'm done, I store with the slides out and I have never seen water inside that I hadn't tracked in.

a quick update. Warranty will not even consider cover delamination issues. The dealership flat out refused to even assess it for a warranty claim.
The owner asked a fiberglass repair tech from a local boat builder to look at the pictures. He thought it would be possible to inject epoxy. About 3 hrs labour plus materials. Unfortunately they are booked until December right now.
Thanks to all that helped me have a sober second thought. Likely going to pass on this trailer.
