Traveling from Bismark ND west to our next stop, we encountered 30+ mph head winds. We stopped a short time at a rest area, did a walk around inspection as always, nothing noticed and all seemed good. About 50 miles later, I noticed in my side mirror something black just behind the rear axle and sticking out the side.
Pulled off the the highway right away, got out and looked under the rig. To our shock, the black corrugated underbelly and insulation was ripped away from the generator bay back 12 feet to the front axle and wires hanging down. I had to cut off this junk, zip tie the lines up off the ground and check for any other damage.
We called KZ, asking if this was a warranty issue as we felt this stuff wasn't secured very good. Sadly, they won't cover it. We've set up an insurance claim and can't get to a dealer for month as we want a KZ dealer to do the work.
I can't get over the fact this stuff just ripped right off. We were driving slow, no faster than 50 in a 75 zone due to the wind. Has anyone ever experienced this?
What was the cost to repair?

How old is the trailer, less that one year the Mfg of the equipment ie stoves, frig's, landing gear, Kz is on the hook for anything after the 1st year, ie second year ...Not sure about third year if there is such ...
If you have a forever warranty it covers most everything such as frig, stove microwave ie appliance's an landing gear after the second year, but read warranty carefully, because electric problems go away after third year on Forever warranty ....

Looks like minor damage, the coroplast is available at some of the big box stores. I was using aluminum tape but for Tyvek sticks better and is water proof also. Some sip ties and maybe a couple shark bite fittings to splice any broken PEX lines.

The year and model is in my signature at bottom of post, it's a 2022, bought it in February . Was told it's NOT a warranty issue as the "wind" damaged it, which I call BS.
As an update, we stopped at an RV dealer while on a road trip today and bought some of the stuff. 13 feet for $162 and I'll install it my self.
Our insurance gave us a quote of $450 for materials and labor, that was a joke! We also have been waiting 2 weeks for a KZ dealer we contacted to give us an estimate for repairs, they never got back to us.

I would find another independent dealer an have them give you a quote, call Kz Customer service an complain about your selling dealer not getting back to you ...
I would then spend $90.00 an have a lawyer send Kz, your selling dealer an insurance a letter to include pictures of damage an possible two independent dealers estament's of repair coasts ...

Chuck s The dealer we bought from is in Indiana, we're currently in Montana. The dealer we spoke too is in South Dakota. As for KZ customer service, that's been a flaming joke and will try our best NEVER to have to deal with them! I'll do the underbelly repair my self, we already bought the materials from a different dealer that was an hour away.
July 25th we had a propane regulator go bad. The changeover valve had a bad leak. We were lucky that 2 RV's down from us was a mobile RV repair guy. He had a "quality" regulator that he could replace the shit one with. I spoke to Cynthia Cummings at KZ, and was told she would only cover HALF the cost to replace the defective part. We're STILL waiting for info on how to return the bad part and get our "half" payment for the repairs.

you will do a better job and not have to pay $140 an hour labor. The coroplast has really gone up in price ............. yep covid did it.

The fact that it ripped off just means that they did a crap job of securing to begin with. Yep, more "quality Amish craftsmanship". Lyle

As you noticed it's only held in place by frame rail lips and a few self tapping screws....I bought aluminum strips and drilled pilot holes for screws and installed on frame cross members....We had to remove ours on the back end account frame twisted and 4 wheel alignment....Added X member behind rear wheels and replaced everything back up...Added extra foam insulation also at that time...

We did replace it our selves. I cut each section, new screw holes, and overlapped each panel. So far so good. Drove from Cut Bank ND to TN with several stops in between.
