As I check out our new Sportsmen, I have a few questions:
1. Because this trailer has the "climate package", I thought there must be some way heat from the furnace is supposed to get in the basement storage area. In our old Wildcat, there was a register (a hole) in the furnace duct that passed through the basement to provide heat. I looked for something like that in this Sportsmen and couldn't see it. So, I removed the flimsy 1/4" plywood on the aft side of the basement that is supposed to protect (or hide) the plumbing. I found there is a hole in the wall between the basement and dinette area. (The hole looks like it was made with a hammer.) This hole is in front of the furnace and is along the cold air return area. So, it that all there is to provide heat to the plumbing in the basement? As air is drawn into the cold air return, is heat also supposed to flow into the basement as well?
2. I read in the owners manual about how to manually operate the slide, if there is power failure to the motor. Here are the directions for Lippert rack and pinion frames, "there is a 1/2" shaft coming through the main rail of frame... on the outer end is a small, 1/8" x 1 1/2" pin that goes through the shaft. Use an adapter, plus socket, and ratchet to move slide in or out." It doesn't say where on the frame to look for that shaft. All I found was a 1" hole through the frame behind the stairs. Should I be looking for that shaft in another place on the frame?
3. The wire connection box for the One Control system is mounted to the top of the cargo storage area in the basement directly in front of the cargo door. This appears to be a bad location to me because anything I try to put in the cargo area might bash into that delicate looking electrical thing as I slide it in and out, or as it moves around during travel. What do you think about relocating that connection box to the aft wall between some of the plumbing? The wires come through that wall and there is no problem with wire length.
4. Speaking of the One Control system: why did KZ mount the touch screen so high on the cabinet just inside the door? I'm 5'10" and the screen is above my head. I have to reach up and strain to see the screen. My wife has to stand on a little stool to operate it. I think I will need to remount it in a new hole lower on the cabinet. Do you see any problem with this idea? I'll need to cover the old hole with something. Maybe I'll hang a calendar over the old hole.
