My Norcold refrigerator is not getting cold even the freezer wouldn’t keep anything frozen. I am thinking it’s the external fan thermistor. Anyone else have this problem?

What's the model number of your fridge? So are you saying that the fan stopped working and that it stayed cold prior to that?

More information please. Does everything else seem to be working properly? Which mode, LP, AC, auto, all? And which model is your fridge? I’ve had a couple of the 8 cu. foot models and currently have a 1210 and the only time I had trouble with them cooling was when the clip on the cooling fins got moved or came off. But, I’ve never had the cooling fan issues that some seem to have either.

We have a Nordcold that would keep temps all over the place...Set at 3 it would be 34 then 2 days latter 45...You couldn't keep ice cubes and to freeze things took days...I did two things....Pulled fridge and removed boiler unit...Added more cold transfer caulking and reinstalled boiler....Second...Wired in 12 volt computer fan onto bottom of expansion tank....Now set at 3 and maintains 34 to 36 and minus 7 in freezer...2018..281RLT...

What Model Norcold? I have added two fans to the Norcold Pplar Max 18 and sealed around the vents and the frig stays about 34 and it does keep ice but not ice cream. I have to adjust the temp setting depending on ambient temp outside.

My Norcold refrigerator is not getting cold even the freezer wouldn’t keep anything frozen. I am thinking it’s the external fan thermistor. Anyone else have this problem? Could be an issue with the Thermistor. I found this poking around. A Thermistor is a simple resistance based thermal probe that changes resistance based on the ambient air temperature. The control board it is plugged into will read that resistance and turn on, or off, the heat source as needed to maintain a constant temperature. As these probes begin to deteriorate the resistance may slowly become out of the range it should be in. Therefore the control board will sense it incorrectly. This may make your refrigerator run too cold or too warm depending on how the probe deterioration occurs. By moving the thermistor from one part of the cooling fins to another you are effectively readjusting the resistance and “tricking” the control board. For instance, if your refrigerator is running around the 42 degree mark consistently you can move the thermistor to a location that gets cold more slowly so that the food cabinet actually drops to 38 before the control board shuts of the heat source.
