I know I asked a while ago but I have now received another delay in the build date of my new 5th wheel. Ordered Dec last yr, numerous build date delays according to dealer, now, new build date is Dec of this yr & to top it off Manufacturer says they can't hold my purchase price & it's increased by almost 10K. My dealer has offered to refund my deposit numerous times but although I have searched & SEARCHED, no other 5th wheel toy hauler has the space I need in a reasonable sized unit. Covid has made it easier to be patient on the build but I'm really curious, is the KZ plant running? Are they producing trailers? or is it just my model line they're not working on?? I know there has been a shortage of certain items but I see other 2021 models advertised on dealer lots. Anybody close to the factory that see's what's going on, must be someone in the know?

I would not give up the order, you made a contract for xxx RV at xx price, that's a done deal. Price went up 10K you have 10K equity when you pick it up. Your patients will pay off and I suspect the RV will have the later build date, win win for you, other than less camping in 2021.

Unfortunately, I'm told the manufacturer has had several price increases that the dealer says will increase my $$.

Unfortunately, I'm told the manufacturer has had several price increases that the dealer says will increase my $$. I would take the deposit back and go shopping. Since your deposit means nothing to this dealer, what is the point of him holding your money? If he can vary a price, then you should be able to vary your deposit, somewhere between $.10 and $1 seems about right.

I have shopped for 3-4 months, no other 5th has the space, & there's not one in Canada & only couple in states that are now ridiculous priced. That's why I was wondering if the KZ factory assembly line was down?

I would go over my contract with a fine-tooth comb, might even give it to an attorney to go over, and see if there's any way to hold KZ's feet to the fire on this. Dollars to donuts that this would never have happened pre-Thor. As it is, I'd simply get my deposit back. If you =can= find something else that will work, I'd also write a letter to the head of KZ telling them how disappointed they are in that they can't stick to a contract and that you'll not buy any KZ and will discourage all your friends from doing so.

Have you checked out the Grand Design Momentum G Class 25G or 28G? Very similar to the 280TH.

One other thing to consider is the pandemic. A lot of people went out and bought RVs for the first time in the last year, people who aren't necessarily going to keep RV'ing once everything opened back up. I think we're going to see a lot of used RVs on the market very soon as people get tired of paying for them.

Lyle Thanks Lyle, both are Travel Trailers & I def want to go 5th, Both have slide outs that severely restrict garage size, I need min 12' of full width interior & still have enough room to relax in on overnight stops while traveling. I'm pretty specific on my needs, I know but if I'm spending that much $$!

Can you please link to the 280TH? I'd like to see it. Lyle

Yeah, the GD Momentums are much longer that what Senior's looking for. My brother picked up a '19 Reflection a few months back, and I'm impressed with it, and GD, in general. Lyle

Well, if you found a used Momentum TT, out of warranty, you could do like I saw one guy do years ago. Cut the tongue off and make it a gooseneck. :-) Lyle

Just for reference, I have had an Escape on order since April. My dealer and I chat regularly and they have had 3 price increases. They have chosen to honor my original price.

Senior, I've been thinking about your situation, and I =really= can't figure KZ out on this. First off, at least 98% of the entire rig is common to every other, similar, FW. The only things being significantly different are the ramp and its associate hardware, the power bed and its associated hardware and, maybe, the table. Oh, yes, fuel tank/pump. I won't count the gen prep / gen option, since that's found in a number of different models. Literally =everything= else is used in some other RV that they produce. So, if they're saying that they "can't get components", then how are they able to build =any= RVs that use the common components? That leads me to wondering if they're building =any= THs at all. I've never been interested in them, so I simply don't look, and I have no clue if =any= new THs are being delivered. If they =are=, that means that the specific hardware for the ramps and the power beds =are= available to be able to put them in =other= TH models. Someone help me out here, and let us know if KZ is actually delivering =any= new THs.
Secondly, this model doesn't seem too different from other Sportster THs, so I can't figure out why they don't build similar models as a batch, where there's very few changes needed between them.
Third, this leads me to believe that there are no dealers that even want this model, so they simply aren't going to produce it until they have enough demand for an "MOQ run" (minimum order quantity) so they can make a bunch at one time. Given the demand the last year and a half, just about =any= model a mfr produces will sell, so what's wrong with the 280TH, specifically?
Am I wrong in my logic, here?

I ordered my 211rb escape the end of February and the dealer just called me that my unit will be built the first week of September.

Lyle, you are probably right in most of your line of thoughts but I cannot find a 2022 model of any 5th toy hauler that a dealer has in stock, hence the original question, Is Kz manufacturing plant still alive?
