Boy....anyone with travel plans that include the state of Arizona...use AZ511.gov to monitor highway closures. As of now, there are approximately 24 active wildfires burning in the state. I10 near Dragoon is closed until further notice, as well as a couple of highways up on the rim. there are also active fires in NM and CA, plus other places. Please everyone, be safe out there.

You can also use Inciweb to check wildfires nationwide. inciweb.nwcg.gov/This also shows =dozens= of other, smaller fires that are burning, that are unnamed. I can only assume that they're in very remote areas where there is no danger of them blowing up into bigger fires or endangering anything but some wildlife. Lyle

Yes Lyle, thank you!
Coconino, Kiabab, Tonto and Apache-Sitgreaves forests also all closed or closing in the coming days. I10 did get reopened, so that's at least good news. I'm just so bummed because we haven't been able to take our new trailer out yet...not going to any time soon either. We're kinda locked in here at home. A week or so ago, we could see three large active fires from our front porch.

Fingers crossed, we haven't had the forest closed on us for nearly 20 years at that time. Used to go up the weekend after July 4th, but we =did= get closed out one year and my late b-i-l said the next year would be the 1st weekend in Aug and, touch wood, we've been lucky ever since. Well, except for the year we got =rained= out and the year after we =should= have taken a "rain day", as it was miserable. I got stuck and it took two other trucks to pull me out. 6" deep on volcanic clay. Add water, mix, and you almost could lube an engine with it! :-) Lyle

We have the same kind of plan, Lyle. We're hoping the closures only last about a month. Got word last night all State Trust lands are also shut down, and some BLM areas in close proximity to the fires. That covers a large portion of the state as well.

Can't see fires this time, just the smoke coming here. Same here. We don’t have fires locally but the sky is sure hazy from the smoke. Jay

I'm sure wishing I'd bought some mountain property =decades= ago! Still kicking myself for not biting the bullet and buying 14 acres we had offered to us near Heber, about 5 years ago. USFS land on 3 sides =with= a creek and pond. :-( Lyle

Dumbest thing we ever did was letting this deal go by us. FS land on two sides.
