So after having a gas 1500 and travel trailers forever, we have decided to move up to a 2013 GMC Sierra Duramax pulling our 2021 Durango D250RES fifth. Picked up truck last Friday and went today to pick up the camper.

I had a good drive with it as it was three hours away. Unbelievable difference in towing! We’ll see how she does with the boat behind too soon enough.

Welcome to the group. I would love a 3/4 ton but with current prices the 1/2 ton will need to do for a while longer.

Welcome to the group. I would love a 3/4 ton but with current prices the 1/2 ton will need to do for a while longer. It was a long search for a 2500. For every hundred 1500’s out there there’s only four 2500’s. I paid a little higher than I wanted to but I got a way higher sell price on my 1500.

Me too. We picked our Durango D333 RTL up last month liking it so far. Thinking about pulling the wheels and hubs off to check bearings/brakes. I bought a new 2017 travel trailer made one trip 400 miles round trip and the brakes had disintegrated.

I did the same thing, my 1500 just wasn't cutting it anymore so got a good deal on the trade and upgraded to a Ram 2500 diesel. Had to travel to another state to find one. Difference in a gas 1500 and diesel 2500 is unbelievable.

I have colour back in my knuckles now lol.

The first tows I have had with the 2500, I went boondocking in the Allegheny national forest and it was up and down big hills, and my last one was going to a campground in Ohio that was a steep grade coming out of the campground and still I was right there with you at 13.6. With the gas 1500 I was getting between 7-8. I literally laughed when I read about the knuckles though.
