Younger brother's been searching for a TT to put on his mountain property while he has a cabin built. They really like the Reflection 297RSTS and he's been on the hunt for one for several months. Found a really nice one in Needles; had everything they wanted and price was right. Sent the guy $1k to hold it. Just before he's to go up there, a major wind storm hits the area and tears the covered storage yard all to hell and now the trailer's got a nice piece of steel sticking through the roof. So, on with the search. Last week, he found a nice one in Olathe. I directed him to NRVIA to see if he could find an inspector to check it out for him, but they're all booked up for weeks so, being an airline pilot, jump seats to KC. Gets there and is talking to the owner and come to find out that he missed one thing when he winterized; forgot to drain the water heater, so it's split. Also, a slide seal was damaged that the owner claimed he didn't know about. Bro' never even left the airport, just turned around and came home. There are a few out there that I just found using a universal Craigslist search tool (www.searchtempest.com; way cool tool!) and found several around, but all were stupid money for less. So, they're expanding their horizons a bit and are now looking at a Highland Ridge Roamer and a Keystone Sprinter. And he used to give me cr@p for taking 5 years searching for my KZ... :-) I sure wish KZ had something similar, but they don't and, yes, I did check the archives for older models, as far back as KZ has on their site.

Wow, what an ordeal. We all have heard neighbor's- cousin's friend stories about how they can't find an RV, but hearing it firsthand makes me glad I am not out shopping.

Can't get discouraged the right one will show up. I looked at every used RV in Quartzsite AZ and I knew exactly what I wanted. The very last dealer in town showed me what he had and then said let me show you ....... New demo from the show, I sell it or take it back to WA and he makes me a deal I can not turn down. Only issue has been I bought in AZ, did paper work in CA (something about AZ tax) from a WA dealer and live in NM.

Has he looked at the Connect 313mk? Very similar layout, though it may not be what they’re looking for. Also may not be any easier to find in the current market.
We’ve got friends having the same problem, can’t find what they’re looking for anywhere...and they’re not even limiting themselves to one model. The market worked well for us as we had one to sell before upgrading and it sold fast and for way more than I initially guessed, but for them, the difference between looking in late January like we did, and March, meant there’s nothing within 500 miles that meets their needs/wants. They may need to road trip to one...if they can even find one first.

Thanks for the suggestion on the Connect. A bit too long for him, I think. They're limited on space where he wants to put it on his lot as he doesn't want to cut down too many trees just to get something that's temporary, to fit. Lyle

So, right after I post this, bro' texts me about a FW that belongs to a friend of a friend. She's a recent widow after her husband suddenly dropped dead from a heart attack. They were prepping their rig for a longish trip, like 6 months, and had put new tires on it, some other smaller upgrades, but the biggest was adding disk brakes. It's a '19 Reflection 320MKS. Went to look at it and his wife changed her opinion about FWs (she'd stayed in a couple and wasn't a fan). So, he's getting a great deal on a near-new rig with some really nice upgrades. At least that's the plan. He's out of town until next Friday when we're going to bring it to my house to plug it in and make sure everything works.
What was that that Edd said about finding his fender cheaper after he'd just bought one? :-)

That's a win/win Lyle. Found a really good deal and got a bigger nicer rig!

Brother brought the FW to my house so we could plug it all in and check everything out as I have a 30a plug. Everything worked as it should and the only real concern I had was 2 corners on the roof were it looked like the factory sealant hadn't been well done; basically, they simply left the sealant about 3" short of going all the way to the corner trim. Par for the course in RV manufacturing, even Grand Design. Rig =has= been used and shows a few minor dings here 'n there, but otherwise well cared for. Given that the owner let it go fully furnished for an extra grand, he =really= got a deal as there's =easily= $2500 worth of "stuff". Lots of hoses, several different dogbones for the cord, FOUR different pressure regulators, tool box, about a dozen different screwdrivers in various drawers, lots of screws, extra screwdriver bits, just a crazy amount of stuff. :-)
A real gem he found at his =house=. There is a plug on the side of his house marked "220v Welder". Well, it turns out that it's NOT a 220v plug, it's a 50a RV plug, though it's only got 30a breakers on it. My cousin's husband (the ones with the bus with 3500+ watts of solar on it), checked the plug and it =is= wired as an RV plug. Double-checked with a 50a Surge Guard, and it showed everything was "proper" for a 50a plug. They're going to double-check the wiring to see what gauge it is as he can only install 40a breakers if it's 8ga wire from the panel to the plug. (City code) If it's 6ga, then he can install 50a breakers. (Nice to have a son-in-law that's a building inspector. Makes sure we do everything "right". :-) )

It can be an advantage talking directly to the HMFICC. Lyle
