Hi All
Last year my wife and I purchased our first travel trailer, the Escape E231BH. We love it. On our first camping trip to Bon Echo Provinvial Park in Ontario, we were 20 minutes from the park when we heard a noise and then my boys said "The window shattered on the trailer". I was in disbelief. When we got to the park and surveyed the damage, we were unable to find the culprit.
Luckily our dealer was awesome and has put in a warranty claim and hopefully when I get the trailer back from them and out of storage it will be replaced.
We are wondering if this is a common thing happening? Has anyone else had their front window go in their 2020 escape? I noticed that the 2021 models have quote the different window now.

Short answer is yes, this happens. Not everyday, but it happens. Tempered glass has a lot of internal stress and will do just that- suddenly shatter. Could have been it was twisted or stressed when the glass was installed in the frame or when the factory installed the window in the coach, or it was just baked into the glass, then through the normal movement of the trailer or something hit it..and "pop" it shattered...

The older RV's with front windows have a metal guard covered them in transit. Son has an older 5W with a rear window covered for travel, makes an awning over the window when open.

Have the 2020 201 BH -- have been on a bunch of trips both 2 long dist 4.5K and just under 4k and 2 in state -- all with High winds and so far (knock on wood) no incidents -- now watch on my next trip in May -- Boom!!!
I just wish KZ kept the cover on that window - or would make an attachment for one

I noticed the different window as well... mine is a 2021 with what I’m assuming is the “older style” rectangle window and pointy style nose... the newer style has a much bigger window with a rounded nose...
Also seems the bigger window E231BH have microwave above the stove/sink, where mine is mounted underneath closest to the floor and is a microwave / convection oven combo.
Few other items like a blue tooth speaker / flash light for the newer builds , very interesting ... both styles listed as 2021.

The front window on my 2020 E201BH broke last year on our last camping trip. No idea why, unlikely from a rock as I only drove 2km and don't recall passing anyone. It's been 9 months and I still don't have it fully repaired. My original selling dealer was of no help as they still haven't got back to me with a price. I went through Duncan Sales / Lippert and they quoted me just over $2,000 CDN for a replacement. I have a piece of custom cut Lexan that cost me $200 in the frame right now and it's still covered with 8mm plastic taped off with ultra wide gorilla tape. It's fugly but it's keeping the water out.
The window breaking was kind of a blessing though, when I removed the frame to get all the glass out, it uncovered the whole top frame of the window was rotten and beginning to delaminate - as this point I had the trailer for just 5 months from brand new. KZ is covering the rot / delamination under warranty thankfully -- I'd like to note, they've been great to work with so far unlike the dealer I purchased the trailer from which have been useless and dismissive.
As for the window, I've contacted a local commercial glass company and they've ordered me a piece of tempered safety glass for just under $70... I don't think the install of the glass into the frame will be easy so I'll try to follow-up with how that goes and more details for anyone in the same boat in the future. My plan is to install the Lexan in the inner grove of the frame and install the tempered glass in the outer grove where the factory glass was. This way if I get another broken window the lexan will prevent any glass from coming in the trailer, and I'll just have to order another piece of glass.

Local windshield guys do free install when you buy the window from them. Will the glass guys do the install, they do it all the time and might be better than trying DYI.

My wife and I took possession of our 2020 E201BH in December of 2020. It is not a year old. Our youngest son and family borrowed it to live in short term (they never pulled it) in May and advised us about cracks in the front windshield. Upon close inspection, it was hard to find an impact point that would have caused the cracks. We submitted for warranty repair through our dealer and just this week K-Z denied the claim. But this is more than a few posts about cracked front windshields in Escapes. I don't want to imagine having to replace front windshield glass every time we take the coach out on the highway. Anyone else with an Escape have this issue?
Edd505 did you have any luck with the tempered safety glass? I am calling Armorplast tomorrow to find out how much a bulletproof glass panel might set me back.

I am calling Armorplast tomorrow to find out how much a bulletproof glass panel might set me back. I haven't tried recently, I have a truck windshield needs replaced I just need to make the appointment. Some of the glass people really know there stuff. If they can get a window the installs the simple part when you do it daily. If they look at it they may have a suggestion on something else that would work like the Lexan mentioned. With the number of these windows braking I think I would get that vinyl cover made with snaps to hold it, any top shop or awning place should be able to fix one. Might not stop all breaks but if it stops one it's done it's job and you don't have the hassle of a broken window. All my older TT's had a metal cover over the window for travel made a awning open, a good idea lost to the past.

I was at the KZ Venture Rally this year and asked about the change in Front window Class windows -- They said they went to these new window styles -- they are "Windshield Grade Glass" - they aren't supposed to shatter as the previous ones -- if they chip -- you are able to repair them as you would for a windshield crack
