We have a 2017 Durango 292BHT - bunkhouse with two bathrooms that we purchased brand new. The main bathroom houses the shower while the "master" bathroom has just a toilet and sink. We have four girls so you can imagine the bathroom use as well as the amount of dishes that are done during a long weekend of camping. Over the last couple of years, we thought that we were going crazy because the black tanks were filling up so quickly (sometimes within two days) but we had little to no gray water. I wouldn't allow showers to conserve gray water space - besides, we're camping so we "bathe" in the creek, river, etc. and because the black tanks were filling so quickly, we encouraged night time use only.
When we took our rig in this year for the annual warranty maintenance appointment, we mentioned the black water issue and asked them to look into it. Upon doing so, it was discovered that the kitchen sink, main bath sink and main bath toilet are all plumbed to the main black water holding tank. The shower is the ONLY thing going into the gray tank and the master bath has it's own black tank for the toilet and sink. YES - the main GRAY water (kitchen sink and main bath) are BOTH going into the main BLACK tank, which explained why the tank was filling so quickly and why we had little to no gray water.
Needless to say, this sounded just asinine to us so we asked around and low and behold, not one person has ever heard of this being done, including the service manager and lead technician at the dealership where we purchased the rig. I have contacted KZ multiple times and while they did agree to cover the $700 fee to diagnose the issue, to which I was very thankful for, they have yet to acknowledge what we believe to a clearly apparent "design flaw" - and that's putting it nicely
So here I am, reaching out to my fellow KZ owners in hopes of getting some feedback from all of you on this. Have you seen or heard of this before? Any suggestions on what could be done to fix it short of buying a new rig? Have any of you dealt with KZ and had successful communications? Thus far, I have only received the typical CSR's deflective responses regardless of my multiple requests for a manager's involvement.
Thanks in advance for the feedback!
